Scalp Irritation-Inflammation

Hi Guys,

Just started the Big 3 three weeks ago and I have noticed a significant increase in scalp inflammation/discomfort which coincides with the period that I started rogaine foam. Ever since I started the foam my scalp feels like it has been massaged with a meat tenderizer.

Is there anyway to determine if the rogaine foam is causing the discomfort or if it is a result of male pattern baldness affecting my scalp?

I have read on other posts that shedding is common and a sign that the rogaine is working, but how does one know if the shedding is actually "shedding" or a negative reaction to the rogaine?

could be the nizoral.

that stuff was hell for me to use at the beginning. had to use olive oil on my hair to calm things down. ease off the nizoral and see what happens.

Nah...I don't think the Nizoral is the culprit. I've used it many years before without any discomfort to the scalp.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is for those who have many months/years experience of daily use with rogaine foam, did it make your scalp feel as your body was trying to tell you that something was wrong? Not talking about the itchiness/moderate buzz after application.

That sounds like the standard minoxidil experience. It irritated my scalp, I was shedding huge flakes. And, I did notice a little bit of a "buzz" sensation.

Both went away within a few months.
