so in the past few ive been losin my hair very rapidly. i pulled my hair back and noticed right at my hairline the skin is flakin a lot, almost peeling off. also notice a lot of dandruff in my hair. seems like the hair thats completely thinning and about to fall out always has lots of dandruff at the end of the strand.

just wonderin if this is normal....the only thing im currently usin is nizoral as im gettin my other health issues investigated first

No. It's not normal. Read my story and dermatitis seborraique thread for more info.

I think I have seb derm a dermatologist diagnosed me with it. No shampoo ever helped me though I think they made it worse. Theres no cure for it so I guess I just live with it

thanks for the link

question to you: how is your hairloss pattern? is it diffuse thinning, diffuse w/receding hairline, diffuse all over?

yours does sound similar to mine, although i dont think i get blood flaking. my hair is very oily, ive always used head & shoulders and/or mane n tail shampoo. i havent been washing my hair as frequently now because when i do it all falls out in the shower and when i run a towel through it to dry. the itching i only noticed recently, and its pretty minor.

do you also get rashes and a red face? ive got rashes that persist on both hands and was perscribed some cream a couple yrs ago when i still had health insurance. ive gotten really red face and acne problem when i never had acne before.

am i correct in assumin that S.D. is NOT the same as male pattern baldness?

i started a thread a few months ago askin for opinions and noted that id been experiencin a lot of (new) health problems that werent there before and began around the same time i noticed hair loss. my hair has gotten so bad over the past couple months that its unbearable...i wear a hat all day and the only way it would look "better" is to shave it off.

im currently w/out health insurance but trying to get a plan through my parents. i think the best thing i can do at this point is to get a blood test because i suspect my health issues stem from somethin deeper. perhaps i should wait until i can see a doctor? i dont know......my hair is almost gone and i want it back :(

My loss pattern is difuse+receding hairline.

I have some wounds/redness in my face too. Thats SD.

SD is not male pattern baldness.

anyway, found this in a topic about seb derm:

Get a derm to get you some Lidex. (Generic name: fluocinonide cream USP, 0.05%)
I have found it gets rid of the seb derm much faster than just shampoo. After all, you leave it on your scalp overnight. I prefer the cream, but it also comes in gel and lotion form. Lidex is great stuff!! RockOn

this is the exact thing i was given by a doctor for the rashes i get on both of my hands. i still have some of the gel left.

someone told me psoriasis medications caused him to lose hair too, and i was usin some stuff to cure that as my dad thought the stuff on my hands was psoriasis.[/quote]
