I saw a pretty sketchy derm today who looked at the crown of my scalp and told me it was great that I caught my hair loss so early. Her recomendation to me was to start a supplement that they only sell at their location, which sounded like snake oil to me. She was very hesitant to prescribe me finasteride because of sexual side effects and infertility, and the fact that i’d be on it for the rest of my life. I truly don’t want to lose the hair I have. Should I just order finasteride online?

I would just order it online. Take for a year and you should a get fair idea about whether it is helping or not, it can help even after a year but you should roughly be able to tell where your hear is headed after a year. I wouldn't recommend using minoxidil until you have given finasteride itself a chance. Im probably in the minority on that, most here would suggest starting both. If you are an amazing responder to finasteride you can expect results as good as this. http://www.hairlossexperiences.com/view_topic.php?id=2318&forum_id=38

I posted another thread a little while back with my hair cut really short. Pics are there. Part of me is just scared of the “side effects” of finasteride, but it seems like most have no sides at all. My thinning is mostly at the front and crown of my head

If you get sides which you deem unbearable then simply stop finasteride, although there is a good chance you won't get any. You aren't losing anything other than your hair by giving it a shot.
