There have been a few...my favorites:

1) Idiot from 3rd world country trying to sell cell phones
2) Idiot(s) from 3rd world online "pharmacies" trying to sell pills illegally
3) College trying to offload "slightly used" screwdrivers

I hope you realize Sl that were just having fun with you. This is actually a very good thread.

Yes people will spam this and every forum like it, there is no doubt. Any place there is open discussions like an internet forum, liars, conmen and snake oil salesmen will try to sneak into forums and take your money. This forum is moderated and we do our best to find them and get rid of them. It’s impossible for us to find them all but we try. Most of the ones we miss are spotted by other posters and they cry spam which is great so the more gullible guys are warned away.

Most of the time you can spot a salesmen by them having a recent join date, a small number of posts, and they think we are stupid by posting an easily see through ad badly disguised as a standard user post.

Do you know who probably loses the most from forums like these? The companies that make the only two FDA approved treatments for hair loss! Pfizer, the makers of Rogaine and MERK, the makers of Propecia. On forums like this you learn about generics and other ways to save money like cutting up Proscar. Not to mention how many people complain about the product. Granted the money they lose is a drop in the bucket in their over all sales but it is a loss. I just don’t see how those companies benefit from user posts. In my opinion they would be rather glad for these sites to go away.

It’s good your suspicious. Stay that way, too many hair loss product consumers get conned out of their hard earned money.

Generally spammers are quite evident, but it always come to my mind that guy who used to post here, Greg1. He behaved like any other poster, shared personal info and that, but he was all the time preaching the goodness of the Lasercomb. He sweared by it. He was so insistent it really got to suspicion.

The point is, are companies paying people for making such a task of "infiltrating" into a forum, confuse between everyone else and promote their product?

Is anyone so meticulous to do such a thing?. I mean, that is the only way to spam properly a product, being trustworthy and all, but to me is such a complicate task!!

It would be better just to put a banner somewhere or a google ad.

But I´ve read job offers from internet selling companies that pay you for promoting their product on forums, reviews, etc...

This is such a low technique!!. Anyway, marketing is about that: thinking how to get shittier and lower morally just to sale.

I think the better weapon against spam or "elaborated" spam is common sense. Not believing everything someone says no mater who he is. Researching and making reasonable decissions with true expectatives.

Against this, spammers can´t do sh*t.
