my regimen you can view below. in the beginning, i used a bottle of minoxidil, just one and i quit it after that but continued the 1 mg finasteride.

within starting minoxidil + finasteride, within 10 days i got a shed. I had been applying minoxidil to only my hairline and temples, yet the shed was from aLL over ESpecially the sides and BACK!... Now i dont know if i should attribute that shed to minoxidil or finasteride. i was told only minoxidil can induce a shed that early and finasteride takes months.

anyway, i stopped the minoxidil after the first bottle. I'm now starting my SIXth month and i'm losing ALOT of hair from the NAPE of the neck and my sideburns. every single damn day , everytime i tug at the hair at the hairline on the Back, i end up with 2-3 HAir, with every single tug!..

the same applies to my sideburns! they've thinned out like anything! everytime i tug i end up with 3 hair or so and it just wont end. feels like they'll just vanish if i keep tugging.

this has been going on since 5 months now, ever since i started the finasteride. before treatment i had never lost a single hair from the back of the head, and that area was my thickest.

is there anybody else at all who's losing hair like me ? from the nape area and the sideburns?

Yeah, I was losing lots of hairs around the nap of my neck as well... Especially right behind my ear... Not sure about the side-burns as I almost always keep em shaved...

I dont shed those hairs anymore with my new routine (added oral spironolactone with Finasteride and switched from Nizoral to FaceDoctoRx ) but I will say this... The losing of my hair on the nap of my neck coincided with a long and persistent shed where my hair deteriorated over a period of about 4 months and didnt subside until I had super-sized my routine.

Of course your situation may be different then mine... If you only used Minoxidil for a month I wouldnt think you would experience too great a shed let alone a prolong shedding period...

Well, I am a couple days away from 1 month on the big three and while I haven't noticed a dramatic increase in shedding, I have noticed that more of my shed hairs come from the sides and back of my head. I can tell because these hairs are darker, shorter, and a bit thicker that the toppies. I don't know if I'm not a responder to my treatments (not that I want a shed!) but I can seriously rub my hair violently and not lose more than a hair or two or none at all.

i dont think you're supposed to lose hair from the nape area with male pattern baldness. as for sideburns i dont know, because i have seen NW5 and NW7 guys with just a few hair in the sideburn area, but as for the nape i dont know.

the hair on the back of my head is thinning day by day, and i dont know whether this is an inverse reaction to the finasteride or what, cause before finasteride i never lost a hair from this area. i started finasteride almost 6 months ago, and i've been shedding from that back all that time. I've got a feeling my thyroid is contributing to this somewhat..

What exactly do you mean by sideburns? Is it the actual beard part or the part below the temples? I think the upper part of the sideburn area is not a safe area.

Also I think you are exagerating when you say you have never lost a hair from the nape of your neck so I wonder how much you are exagerating the rest of this. How does your hair look in comparison to 6 months ago? Have you receded or thinned more? Is it a significant change?

I shed pretty bad back in the beginning of my treatments then it slowed a bit and now it is shedding again at 7 months. Now my hair looks a little thinner but it is not too much worse than it was when I started out in May. I still have hope. Can you say the same?

The loosing hair all over thing sounds like Telogen Effluvium but 3 hairs each pull is not a good measure unless you count how many hairs are involved in the tug. If you are tugging at 10 hairs then the 3 per pull is a little high but still may not be due to Telogen Effluvium, but it very well could be. I think you shoudl do a serious pull experiement. Just don't agitate your hair for a week or so by tugging on it and then tug on a several 20 hair areas and do your best to record what % of hairs come out. If the % is much greater than 15% then you have strong evidence that you have Telogen Effluvium or some other hairloss situation. If it is as bad as you say then you really should see a doctor.

i'm not exagerating. before i started treatments i used to pull real hard on the back and i wouldnt even get a single hair in my hands! it used to be my thickest and quickest growing area. its not 3/10 hair i guess. its more like 2/15 or even 2/20 , but that doesnt change the fact that hair on the back has thinned out alot ! and this 2/20 hair is EVERYTIME i pull it. it doesnt end.

by sideburns i meant the area right below the sides! right in front of the ear? .. its slowly vanishing!

i just pulled on my sideburns and out came three hair. 2 very light vellus looking and the third really thick with a huge *** white bulb.

i just pulled on my back and i got 2 hair. one thick, one really thin.
*shrugs..
