S5 Cream to help preserve finasteride gains?

Heya,

So I've been on Minoxidil & Nizoral Shampoo now for a year and a half, and finasteride only as recently as 5 months ago with several dosing schedule changes to help eliminate side effects. Here is my finasteride intake time-line:

Starting in June, 2012: 1.25mg every day for 9 days -> 1.25mg every other day for 3 weeks -> 1.25mg every third day for a month -> .62mg every third day for 3 months and a week until present day.

As stated above, I currently take .62mg of a proscar pill every third day, and it seems I've recovered to about 75% of my old self on all side-effects sexual and physique related so it's pretty cool. I still want to find that "sweet spot" however, and I truly think there's something to be said for starting the pill in the first place at a minimal amount, and then letting your body adjust to it. I say this not only because of a few guys claims on the internet, but because my brother, who is 2 years older and much further along his male pattern baldness than I am, started finasteride at .62mg every third day (courtesy of my advice, lol), and he hasn't had a single side effect in 2 months so I'm really happy for him, but also pissed LOL because I hope to get there too, of course.

Being already 5 months into finasteride, it would really be a shame to not see any results by that 8th month if I were to stop finasteride for about 2 weeks to let my DHT return to normal (unless I'm wrong here and it wouldn't stop my progress much at all before getting back on?).

So that brings me to my question: In the 2 or 3 weeks that I take a break from finasteride to let my body return to its normal hormonal functioning state, would applying s5 cream in the AM/PM help preserve my progress before I re-introduce finasteride at a lower dose? If it can, what is your guys rough estimate about how much it would help? I realize its not as strong as finasteride, but if you could put a number on it?

Thanks guys! : D
