S5 Cream - No Smell?

I remember using Dr. Lee's 5% spironolactone cream, which had a distinctive smell (quite unpleasant which smelt kind of like eggs). I believe that Dr. Lee advised that this was simply unavoidable, because that is what spironolactone smelled like. I understand that those who made their own concoction from spironolactone tablets also complained of the same smell.

However, s5 however has a very neutral smell. If I didn't know otherwise, I could be applying E45 cream to my head. Has anyone else had any concerns/tested s5 cream for its makeup?

Check out my posts in this thread regarding your same concerns. I do not trust the cream one bit nor do I trust the manufacturer. I do not think there is any spironolactone in the cream and if there is it is wayyyy below the 5% concentration. The only way to confirm is to have a lab test.

There is spironolactone in S5 cream, believe me. I know exactly how spironolactone smells like and I can smell it when putting my nose close to s5. At some point I may do lab test to determine the percentage.

Also spironolactone is so damn cheap I don't believe they wouldn't include any spironolactone and advertise it as 5% spironolactone. That just doesn't make any sense.

rcom, I understand you're probably sensitive about this as s5 is the only aa in your regimen. All the proof I have seen hints that s5 is just a small bottle of generic lotion. I've used spironolactone since 2006. Dr Lees was micronized and still had specs of small undissolved spironolactone throughout. Why are there none in s5? How come when I mixed s5 and mixodil together and left them in a sealed container there was no "rotten egg" smell since we all know minoxidil and spironolactone degrade each other?

How can you still trust the manufacturer given the latest issue with the bad batch of spironolactone staining people's scalps orange? Several people complained (reference the links below) yet there was no recall, statement, or refund. You even lost money on a container you threw away for the same issue.

in any case, it's your money bud do as you please

Should it be rotten eggs smell or more of a skunk smell when mixed with minoxidil? S5 has that skunk smell. I had one jar of dr lee spironolactone cream and I remember s5 used to smell much worst than dr. lee product however I never mixed dr. Lee spironolactone with minoxidil.

I think I will buy liquid 5% spironolactone online and mix it with minoxidil and see how it will smell. S5 has whole bunch of other stuff they don't mention. They try to mask smell so it's not as obvious.

When it comes to s5 staining skin, I think it was done by excess of Aloe Vera. I'm questing they messed up proportions.
I also compared jar of s5 that stain skin with one I received a few weeks ago. They smell exactly the same the only difference is one is staining skin.

I will mix with some minoxidil and see if that makes a difference to the smell.

On one hand, as others have said, the cost of spironolactone wholesale must be very cheap, and they seem to sell a lot of S5 worldwide....it would be so easy for them (and surely they would have been, well before now) to be caught out if they were selling spironolactone cream with no spironolactone...

Agree, spironolactone itself is pretty easy to get and it's very inexpensive. You can buy 50 of 25mg tablets for 75cents. My friend who owns pharmacy can get them even for even less.
S5 has been sold for many years and I think if there were no spironolactone in it they would get busted. But i would like to be 100% sure so maybe at one point I will send it to the lab.

Btw, abovedagame,
Do you know were I can get liquid spironolactone online. I don't feel like making my own.

I believe gen hair used to sell a 2% liquid, but you can't access their site anymore (figures...)

Cem has a 5% which I believe you linked.

The only other one I know of is wholesale hair products.com but I have only used their 5% cream and was not happy with it or their customer service. Their prices however seem fair.

If your friend can get you bulk pure powder I would recommend mixing your own. Its fairly simple using ppg and alcohol (I wish I had a source for the bulk powder)

You can buy spironolactone tablets online and crush them into powder and mix it with ppg and alcohol.

Btw, I'm actually too lazy and I don't feel like icing my own stuff.
I'll wait till Cem spironolactone is in stock.

There's a ton of filler in each pill. Its quite difficult to filter out only the spironolactone from the pills, otherwise u will be applying a messy, chalky, thick liquid if you mix it as is.

As long as you will be able to dissolve them nicely it should be fine. The only active ingredient would be spironolactone.
