Hey guys!

I just noticed my balding 4-5 months ago ( just hairline going back) and some loss of density compared to 5 years ago. I started using spironolactone 1.5 months ago once a day at night and damn, I'm now massively shedding in the areas that I apply? I apply a bit more since I only do it once a night but has anyone had a massive shed like this? I wash my hair with shampoo ever 3 days (I don't like shampooing much) and damn, I get like 150 hairs out :/ terrifying!

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm thinking about adding treatments every 6 months or so to see what works and S5 is my first treatment.

I've been using s5 day cream for about a month now in combination with minor and have noticed a reasonable amount of shedding to. I've read that the shed means the treatment is irking but really who's to say.. I'm 19 and I noticed early signs of male pattern baldness around the same time as you.

Hey man thanks for the response! Yea I'm 21 and recently noticed the hairline kinda going back, thick everywhere else though. I'm also using Nizoral but damn the S5 has actually receded me a bit more if I'm not being paranoid --> definitely shedding more and hopefully in a couple months things will get better ... :/

I don't man. But green tea is so good for you anyways I can't imagine it being bad for hair although I have read reports of DHT being lowered a bit not like FINA but a bit.

Well, back on topic....does anyone else have massive S5 cream shed? Like damn, I swear my temples are DESTROYED! I have been using the S5 since October 2x sometimes 1x a day but its only been 2.5 months but I'd love to get some other opinions?

2.5 months prob isnt long enough to get results though im not familiar with S5. I know upon me starting my regimine back up after pausing 2 months for bootcamp I had a large shed that lasted about a month. I have read reports of shedding for several months on many treatments.

the shedding isnt from s5, its from you losing more hair and spironolactone not being strong enough.

The thing is my hairloss was minimal and nobody, gf, friends or parents, thought my hairline was receding. Now after 2.5 months on the S5, my hairline is noticeable thinner ... but even now people me I have a good hairline so I'm not sure :/ I was paranoid so I started to use the S5

just read your sig... aloe vera as a styling gel is a good idea for those who like using traditional gel and the wetter look... i personally like using fibre type products that produce a matte look but that is an interesting/good sub.

ps i just ordered s5, as it seems promising. I am currently only using minoxidil 5%, nizoral, and saw palmetto. have been on the 3 for the better part of 5 years, although the saw palmetto i was off from 2011-2012 as I was unsure it was doing anything... my hairline started to look worse once I was off it, so I went back on... Oh I forgot to mention I am currently dermarolling too. So hopefully the s5 will yield even better results. I am currently a NW1. was a Norwood .05 when i first noticed my hairline receding about 5 years ago

Hey Sniper9, the S5 has made my hairline noticeably worse but its only been around 2.5 months so plenty of time for it to get better (HOPEFULLY). Would you recommend the saw palmetto to a guy not taking Propecia like me? Haha thanks, I actually love aloe it gives my hair tons of "thickness". I use it lots on Friday nights :p

Exactly what Monty said. That one guy who said S5 isn't strong enough is an idiot. You know your body best and if you have weak slow loss then you don't need strong treatment and will only cause tellogen effluvium (shedding).

I'm on S5 too and I shed at first. It effects my hairline the worst too, but I have a weak *** hairline (NW3 diffuse thinnest at vertex and very weak hairline).

I would say either cut back on the amount applied, and/or try to avoid your hair follicles themselves. The medicine will soak in to like a 1 sq. inch area if I remember correctly, so lining your hairline without direct application on the follicles may help with those weakening follicles. But like monty said, I think this is a really good sign. This shedding means that the hair will only grow back thicker. So you caught it in great time and if your hairloss is weak like you say s5 may be the only drug strength treatment you need. Your call on cutting back to eliminate shedding, or ride it out (and since you have a good hairline and can mask easily this is what I would do) and as Monty said see great benefits after a year or so.
