Rookie looking to start proprecia, need some advice

I apologize ahead of time if I am reposting a thread that already has this information. I'm a 31 year old male who is starting to feel very insecure about his hairline, I definitely feel like I am starting to get thinning and some slight receding but no extreme hairloss is occurring at this juncture, I wanted to try out proprecia because I feel like the worst thing to do would be to wait until I have a big hairloss problem before attempting to address it. I literally have never been to the doctor in my entire life, for a rookie in my position, who do I need to go see about getting a propecia prescription? a dermatologist or a "hair loss" expert? I assume that since I only need a prescription, the dermatologist is the better option because the doctor's fee will be less, is that correct? I live in Tampa, FL, if anybody on here could recommend a doctor, that would be awesome.

Hey there. You sound a bit like I did when I was 27 and starting to lose my hair.

If you like, you can take some pictures of your hair and post them on here. Most of the guys will be able to tell you pretty easily if you are suffering from male pattern baldness or not. Alternatively, you can go see a dermatologist to get diagnosed with male pattern baldness, who will also be able to prescribe you Propecia.

Do you have a family doctor? If so, you can go speak with him/her and ask for a prescription. Alternatively, you can just go to a walk-in clinic and ask them. Most doctors won't have an issue with this.

I've been on the drug for 2 years, and it did a great job thickening my crown, my temple areas and has basically halted my hair loss all together. I strongly recommend giving it a try, and you can rest assured it is the best treatment currently available for hairloss.

thanks a lot man, thats exactly the advice I was looking for, i think i am going to start with the walk-in clinic since that is probably the most affordable option, i'll post updates as they come.

ok I got my prescription today via a walk in clinic, very easy, but now I have to buy my pills. The doctor wrote me an Rx for propecia 1mg 90x and the pharmacist told me that there is no generic for propecia, it looks to be a little pricey as all of you guys already know, where/how do you guys get your propecia at the lowest cost? online?

Lots of us (incl. me) buy generics like Finpecia online at the fracion of the cost of Propecia. I have been using it for 4 years now with good results. Message me if you want details of which site I use ...
