Rogaine users: What has it done to your other body hair?

What's the deal? Explain

That's the one thing that bothers me about minoxidil. I don't want my body hair to change.

The hype is true. I have slightly thicker beard, and my upper sideburns which once had the consistency of my upper head hair did get a bit coarser, and are kind of half way between head hair texture and beard texture. Not a problem because I keep em trimmed and it is not visibly noticeable... but I do notice a very dramatic difference when feeling it myself. The coarse part of my beard used to end at the bottom of my earlobe. Now it very clearly is coarse half way up the earlobe.

Beyond that, no change. Eyebrows still the same, and absolutely no noticeable change in body hair in general. Just those sideburns!

I don't understand how, unless you are letting it run down your face, a topical like Minoxidil could thicken your beard or other body hair.

I did not read that the results were systemic.

minoxidil is not only effective exactly where applied. It is absorbed into you skin and spread through the layers. If it didn't, it would be very difficult to spread the minoxidil on the entire area of the scalp, hitting every square inch of scalp. I haven't had the listed side effects yet, although I have heard they are not uncommon. But if thats the worst side effect you get from minoxidil, is it really a big deal?

Yes, I understand that in close proximity to where it is applied, there is absorption underneath and throughout...I guess my point was, how does an application on the top of your head, or close to that, cause growth so easily seen, in an area a good distance away (beard)? Especially when many people barely see a difference in the area that it is applied.

Not saying it can't happen..just not clear on how it is that potent in areas outside of the head-radius.

Btw, I have had GREAT sucess so far, entering my fourth month. Lots of regrowth.

about the only thing minoxidil has thicken is my beard. kind of sucks, but hopefully it's preserving the thin hairs on my scalp.
