Rogaine Foam - Rapid Heart Beat

Hi everyone,

I'm one of those majority that reads a lot but posts rarely :)
I've been a foam user for 3 months (I'm currently not using any other treatments in my regimen). I've been getting good results, too.

However, I have a problem. Yesterday evening, when I was watching a movie (it was the recruit, a small ad :) ) , although I was really relaxed, I felt a few (about five - ten) palpitations. Interestingly, they were quite in an order. Afterwards, I noticed that my heart beats were relatively fast. Since I knew about the side effects of rogaine and I've been using it almost without skipping, I thought that it could be related to that (I want to note that my last application of foam was about 10 hours before this feeling) . However, since I haven't felt this in the 3 months of my usage, I thought it was temporary, and applied before going to bed.

Anyway, I was fine when I got up, but skipped the application. However, in the afternoon, I started to feel this rapid heart beat again, and I've been feeling it for a quite long time (about 5-6 hours up to now), thus I decided to post this message.
I measured my blood pressure a few times with periods, in average they are normal, with systole of 122 - 126 and diastole of 82 - 86, however; again in average my heart rate is about 90. (see PS below)

Well, my age is 20 and although I don't really remember what my heart rate usually was, I don't think it was this much and also my heart rate doesn't feel right.

Thus, I skimmed through the forum and found a few posts about rapid heart rate of rogaine.
In the first group, people had this side effect in the beginning of the treatment right after the application.
In the second group, people had the side effect between 3-6th month of the treatment, and in a more general manner (not strictly after the application).

Of course, although I am not sure that rogaine is responsible from this; I will skip applications of foam until this feeling fades out since it is a really disturbing situation (it is really not comfortable to feel like excited when you are actually not :) ). Afterwards, I intend to start again, with applying small doses.

Here, I have four questions:
1) What do you think the chance of rogaine being responsible of this is?
2) Does this plan sound good? Or do you have other advices?
3) I couldn't figure out the reason of the difference between the first case and the second case. Why would some people feel the side effect in the beginning of the treatment right after application whereas some feel in 3-6th month into the treatment and not strictly after the application. I cannot see the logic in it.
4) Majority of people agree upon the point that foam is more effective than the liquid, and it eases the absorption of minoxidil. Would this mean increase also in chance of experiencing the side effects of rogaine, of which rapid heart rate is quite rare?

Of course, any other comment is appreciated.

I know it is a quite long explanation, actually it is much longer then I intended to write. Thank you for reading and your potential answers if you've come this far :) .

PS: Every night, I take 1 or 1.5 mg Xanax before going to bed since I have difficulty in sleeping (I'm doing this under control of Doctor, of course). I took 1 mg 10 minutes ago and I measured my heart rate two times (as expected, it is less): it is about 82, and it feels quite close to my normal heart rate.
The point I want to make is, I think my normal heart rate is something about 75.

Maybe it's anxiety? That little beast can manifest itself in many many ways including those exact symptoms you described.

I don't know, it may be. However I've been having "anxiety" (not in diagnostic but in general meaning) quite for a long time (more than half a year), and I don't remember feeling this so strong before in this period. Of course, it may have become diagnostic now; this feeling started in a sudden manner rather than gradual, decreasing its chance of dependence on psychological reasons.

Oh it can definately hit you quickly and without warning. Anxiety can set in very gradually but also has the ability to hit you like a cannon. It could possibly be a panic attack of sorts which can manifest itself in many ways including sudden rapid heart beat etc.

I have panick disorder and I know exactly what your getting I get in ocassionaly through the year. also I have noticed I bring it on if im slightly weary of a new product if I read the lable and it says rapid heart beat and dizzyness BAM I get it! I think its likely to be panick or stress. and its normal for people to have a few palpitations now and again after all your heart cant beat perfect for the next 100yrs can it? just watch ou for chest pain and maybe go to the docs for some betablockers for your anxiety and think whats stressfull for you and try to manage them.
