Rogaine and Propecia

Hi all

I took Propecia for about 6 months last year (half a pill), and didn't see much effects, plus thought it might be making me moody. I decided to try Rogaine and have been using that for about 5 months now, with questionable results.

Seeing as both individually didn't seem that effective, is there still reason to believe that the combination of the two might work?

Thank you very much for your advice,
John

have to be honest here, if you took propecia for 6 months you might as well have not taken it. people here on the boards will usually say wait at least 12 months to judge.

http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/uv ... irloss.cfm

if the above is accurate, you would see the 10% resting phase of your hair shed and then start regrowing every few months.

this means you'd have to wait 15 months to see 50% of the hair that has grown with the reduced DHT levels from finasteride. Given these facts, I would say to wait 15-20 months to judge more accurately whether or not it is working for you. And depending on your level and rate of loss, i would initally debate using minoxidil at all. you are already using it, so its a different story.

if you are serious about combating hairloss, you need to be on propecia. if you decide you can't take it, don't take it anymore but it is important to understand the scope of the task you are about to undertake! it can't be stressed enough: if you choose to fight your hair loss with today's available treatments, it is a lifetime commitment!

propecia and nizoral first.
depending on your stage of loss, make a call on minoxidil. since you are already on it, i would say to stay on it.

You are fighting time and it gets to a point where what is lost is lost. decide if you want to really put up a stand and do it, or buzz/shave it!
