I have taking Rogain and Propecia and they both don't work for me. I read the reason why Rogain might not work is because I might have high levels of dht.
I also called a few hair clinics fo surgery and was told I don't have enough donor hair on my scalp (small head).
So what other options do I have have? I have tried several shampoos, peppermint and vitamins with no success.

Finasteride and RU didn't work for me either. Haven't tried Minoxidil since I lose so much hair everyday I'm assuming a growth stimulant wouldn't be able to keep up with the loss. I desperately need to find something that can reduce the shedding. I'm currently taking 1gm./day (500 mg. 2x per day) of setipiprant. Been on for 2 weeks but haven't noticed anything yet. Really hoping attacking pgd2 will work since anti-androgens haven't worked.

How long were you on finasteride for? It typically takes 9+ months for the hair to thicken up and regrowth typically starts at the 12 month mark

Ive been on minoxidil for 5 months and my shedding is horrible, it syncs all your hairs to the same growth cycle so they all grow at the same time and then they all shed at the same time then it repeats, for me i just end up back at square 1 every 3 months so i am going to quit minoxidil and just deal with the massive telogen effluvium that comes after quitting, its going to be a night mare but maybe in a year the hairs that shed from stopping minoxidil will grow back hopefully in less time than 1 year

Was on finasteride for 11 months. Seemed to have periods of bad shedding throughout the entire 11 months. I was expecting a reduction in scalp itch and shedding by 3-4 months, so after 11 months of no changes I gave up.

Dude, I'm damn near ready to start synthesizing local tree foliage to see if it has any hair growth properties that I could perhaps stumble across by mistake lol

Good luck with your fertilizer head goals in 2018.

Bro try dutasteride its like finasteride x10 i started taking it and no sides same as finasteride for me i am shedding like a fcking dog, keep going with it dont give up. Regrowth is just around the corner and if finasteride wont save you, then dutasteride will

I actually tried dutasteride for a couple weeks then quit (started getting cold feet). May try it again, though, but right now I just started seti so I want to see how effective it is. If it doesn't work, I may try dutasteride again.

@hairhat12 I was joking too, numbnuts.

What caused you to gwt cold feet about it? Personally i am trying everything at the same time to get as much regrowth as fast as possible

A bunch of reasons. Had bad days of shedding during that time (although it's highly unlikely dutasteride was the cause, I started thinking about my negative experience with finasteride). Also noticed I had diarrhea and discovered that taking dutasteride with certain kinds of foods was the cause. Also started thinking about the potential harsh sides dutasteride could cause. I think my head was just playing tricks on me and like I said, I'd consider trying it again.

Dammit, there you go again make it sound great I wanna get on finasteride, probably kill my anxiety from hairloss. Lol

I think what I will do is wait till my birthday in Nov to commit to it for certain. Also, I hope for all our sake you & others don't have to be on it forever. Glad its working out for you though for the time being.

Hopefully the Brotzu lotion will be available before that and hopefully it will be an effective topical without the side effects.

@ApproachingNormal If propecia and Rogaine didn't work your options are limited. dutasteride isn't likely to work if you were a finasteride non responder. You could try RU or a topical mixed with an anti androgen.. You may need to see a compounding pharmacyfor that though, unless you know how to mix chemicals yourself?
