I need some help. I don't want to take finasteride because of sexual sides. I alreday suffer from sexual sides due to anti-depressants. So I am using Rogain 2 times a day and Nizoral 2% 2-3 times a week. I am 28, a nw3 with alot of nw3, 4 and 5 in my family, no nw6 or 7. I am having a FUE hair transplant early next year and I am wondering if the rogain and nizoral alone, without finasteride is useless? Does it make a difference without finasteride. Should I just skip it since I am having a hair transplant? I have only been using rogain/nizoral for a months so I can't tell if it's helping yet of course. What is the best I can hope for? Please advice.

Rogain and Nizoral alone! No finasteride

I am myself on nizoral and minoxidil... I also take SP and have been doing this for just over 2 months now and have noticed some good regrowth and hair getting thicker but I know myself I will need to get on finasteride very soon if I want to try and keep what I have got so I would recommend not leaving it too late to get on finasteride...
there are more experts here who can help you out but don't know how much it matters if your having a hair transplant.
I am about a NW3 just a bad receeding hairline really but hair has always been thin so looked bad, with the regrowth I have got in the past 2 months or so and having a hair cut short my confidence has gotten much better and hair has gotten thicker so I am pleased at the moment.

My hair transplant doctor adviced me to use finasteride, even though I'm having a hair transplant, but he understood that I didn't want to take it. He did tell me to keep using nizoral and minoxidil. I just don't understand why because everyone here seems to think they are useless without finasteride. Nizoral 2-3 times a week can't possibly make a difference??
