Robert Plant Doesn’t Think His Career Would Have Survived Hairloss

Musician and former Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant gave the following answer in November 2014 when asked if he thought his career could have survived baldness:

That's a very good question. I don't think I could survive it. I've never had a nightmare about losing my hair but I did see a bit of our performance on Later… with Jools Holland and I thought, f*** me! I really need to get it cut!

It's a funny thing, hair. What to do with it? I always listened to David Crosby and I think he's got the voice of an angel. It's absolutely amazing despite all that freebasing but he persists with that hair of his. It's like he sang on 'Almost Cut My Hair', "I feel like letting my freak flag fly" so I'm going to hang on to mine

At 69, I think it’s safe to say he’s survived baldness.

Interesting quote. I thinks some musicians careers have definitely been impacted by hair loss.

Planty should be OK but Jimmy Pages hair has been thinning a lot in recent years

It's also interesting to note that Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones rejected chemotherapy for lung cancer because he didn’t want to lose his hair

He is a great singer.
You would think he would have won the hard rock scene even without his defining mane.
Maybe he wouldn't have.

I guess a big part of Plants appeal when he was younger was his good looks. Like a lot of bands image was part of their success. However, this is Led freakin Zeppelin we're talking about; of course they would have been successful hair or no hair!

Not necessarily, male pattern baldness can strike at any age. I'd think that most men of retirement age probably have more important things on their mind though.

I think the point is; at his age if he went bald it's not such a big deal compared to if it happened in his youth, at least as far as his career is concerned. Plant doesn't need to be a sex symbol any more.

Took this still from an interview he gave two weeks ago. Looks like temple recession, diffused thinning and miniaturisation in an NW3 pattern.

Yes it was obvious from the side by side with long locks that he had lost some hair. If you look closely you can see Temple and overall thinking on top with the older plant with long hair. Hair Still looks good for a man of 69.....
