The comments on that page are hilarious. So many stupid people and more vain than what they try to make their insulting balding victims to be.

Most men are incredibly uninformed, or rather misinformed when it comes to hairloss. Most men haven't heard of propecia, and most balding men are told there's nothing they can do about it, just shave it off and don't do the combover thing. There needs to be more awareness regarding hairloss and the proven effective treatments.

True.

Most men haven't heard of propecia,

True.

and most balding men are told there's nothing they can do about it,

Mostly true.

The treatments available are absolute GARBAGE. Minoxidil that doesnt work for many and Propecia (finasteride) that also doesnt work for many with many dangerous side effects. Only TWO proven treatments, both of which only more often than not offer 25% of more hair AT BEST.

Disgusting.

just shave it off and don't do the combover thing. There needs to be more awareness regarding hairloss and the proven effective treatments.

Awareness will only work if you get people to actually have sympathy for you. That is going to be a monumental task considering shaming baldness is not only accepted, its openly taken advantage of. Effective treatments are coming at a snails pace, but even if you had 100 new treatments go into work now, you'd have the pleasant FDA prolonging these treatments anyway for years to come. Screw treatments though, we're due for a CURE by now.

Yeah well everything except the effective treatments part. We have one treatment that gives a person any chance whatsoever of slowing male pattern baldness at all and its propecia. Right now its either propecia works for you or you go down the dangerous road of self experimenting and hoping something works. Given the many things to consider with propecia I think most men are making decent decisions to just live with it. I think many medical professionals just subscribe to the do no harm theory of medicine. If your in good health dont risk problems by taking internal meds you dont need its just common sense. We all know most drugs are poorly understood which is why a topical for male pattern baldness needs to exist or just something better then propecia in terms of safety. Internal meds for life are dangerous and impractical long term for a cosmetic problem and in the long run your most likely still balding anyways why even bother? Yes it goes slower and you might be above baseline but so what?
