So I’ve done lots of searching online and have read on here about Free Testosterone increasing while on Dutasteride. What are some ways to lower it? Or should I not work toward that?

I have been on dutasteride for a year now. Still losing hair. Was on propecia for 8 years and it worked well. Then it stopped working.

I take .5 mg Every day.

My Free Testosterone rate is at: 375 pmol per litre

Thoughts? Or would going to 1mg of Dutasteride help?? I have no negative side effects on these meds. Or should I decrease my dosage? I’m at a loss...please help!!!

Would maybe moving to a pill every other day lower my Free Testosterone? Does Free Testosterone even have a role in this??? I don’t know....

Add ru58441. I certainly will after I up my dosage of dutas.

The theory is that the horror hairline stories (mine included) are due to rise of testosterone on dutas and your hairline follicles being more prone to it’s damage. So adding ru will block both hormones.

Another option is adding setipiprant. But it’s expensive right now and it has mixed results from people.

How long have you been on Dutas? How are your results? My scalp is oily lately and impacting my hair loss

I wouldn't worry about oily scalp. I had it since forever. It may or may not be connected to hair loss, but it's certainly not the reason why you're losing your hair. You can try Nizoral\Regenepure (shampoos) once or twice a week and egg whites mask on your scalp for an hour once a week.

I've been on dutas for 14 weeks. I take it every third day (0.5mg) cuz I'm gradually migrating from Propecia. Results are not that good. My hairline went to sh*t and I'm still having a big shed. You need to know that Dutasteride is known for its devastating sheds so mentally prepare yourself for it. It sux big time but I couldn't stay on Propecia any longer so I needed to make a choice.

My plan is to up the dosage of Dutasteride to every other day after 24 weeks. If that won't help I will add RU and 0.5mg Dutasteride every day. If even that won't help I will add oral Setipiprant.

Anymore thoughts on this guys?? I can answer questions about Propecia too if you want. I am 32 with decent hair (doesn’t look like thinning to most, but I see it). Propecia for 10 years, and Dutasteride for 1 year.

Tell me more about what to do..

Thanks all!!!

No to what? What should I do, ya think?

Also, Propecia was great! Some sheds here and there over 10 years, but it always improved and maintained very well!! It wasn’t until the final few years that it stopped maintaining as well.

No side effects on dutasteride aside from maybe a slight change in sexy drive. Some days it is improved and I ejaculate quicker than I did. Sometimes a loss of libido.but overall good.

I work out a lot (I have a great athletic body) and my workouts have continued great. I’m benching 240 lbs now and moving up.

My scalp is oily now though. I wash my hair every other day with Selsum blue or Nizorol (alternating).
