Hi all, am 19 and noticed that the right side of my temple is slightly more receded than my left. Is this normal, just developing a mature hairline or an early sign of male pattern baldness? am very unexperienced and replies are greatly appreciated!

It'd be better to get some better frontal pictures, I mean based off of picture one it seems like a perfectly normal hairline for a 19 year. But in picture two and three I'm not sure if its the angle but it seems like you have the dips starting to form and the hair in the area seems thin.

How's your family on both sides in regards to male pattern baldness? If you want a good assessment consider going to a Dermatologist/Doctor. They may disregard it since it could just be the early signs. I'd keep monitoring your hair and take good photos of the hairline every 1-2 months.

Thanks for the suggestion! Also have updated better frontal photos. My dad is in his 50s with a nw3, maternal side granddad has only frontal recession, probably a nw2.

There was a thread about this recently by @Armando Jose , he has discovered this effect. It appears standard for the right side to recede slightly more rapidly.

Thanks david for the reply! So its an common early sign of hair loss? Or isit still too early to deduce its hair loss and that i should wait for 3months to see if theres any changes

Based on the updated photos I would say that it showns signs of early male pattern baldness. It's pretty early though I would say its on its way to around a Norwood 1.5 range maybe less could even be a Norwood 1 just beginning to form. The frontal picture shows that it really isn't bad; But your two side profiles show that your hairline at the temple points have begun to recede. You caught it at a really early point on so you should be fine if you hop onto the current treatments.

This is just my opinion mind you, I'm not a professional. Consider seeing a Dermatologist to get a more accurate assessment, or monitor it for another 3 months before deciding whether to start treatment. It's just better to start as early as possible when it comes to combating male pattern baldness. Good luck, Take care.
