RIGHT!!!! let the battle begin... Proscar tablets arrived!

Hey guys..

OMG!! i am alittle scared.... alittle excited!! but my proscar arrived today and i am starting it tonight!!

I got a pill cutter, but had a problem cutting them into 1/5ths.... like Dr Ashcroft advised... .any ideas.. ??

Wish me luck and i hope this works now!!!

Ok.... so cut the tablets into 1/4ths as the things just crumble when you try to do 1/5!!! so day ONE!!! looking at my hair this morning is SOOOOO depressing!! its gotten so thin on top that i can not see my scalp big time and styling it is just so boring..!!! coz i have to style it in a certain way to try and hind the thinning!! :O( i am feeling sooooooooooo down and depressed about this now!!

I KNOW! its only hair.. but this is just horrible!!! i just feel like never leaving he house!!

Has anyone gotten a good idea for concealer!! i know there are alot out there, but i do not want to spend ages putting stuff on a worrying about it coming off at work etc.. ... any good recommendation from people who use this stuff.. ?

Yeah stick to cutting it into 1/4's everyone else on this forum does and we have great results

You should take a few pics of your hair now and then take more pics 6 months later to see if there is an improvement.

You should post the pics here for all of us to see. Keep this thread updated for us!

Gonna try and take a few pics and post them asap.. HOPEFULLY this will bring back my hair to its glory!!

Lucky for me , i am still able to say i am thin rather then bald at the moment.. if i can just thicken the front up i will be over the moon!! :O)

Its nice to read about other guys starting the battle too at the same time, so hopefully we can all keep in touch via the forum and motivate each other..

Its day 3 now and i am feeling positive already...... just knowing that i am doing something major about it , i think it making me feel better, so i just wish i could forward to 6-8months ahead to see if this will actually improve.. i have faith.. :O)

You need a http://www.photobucket.com account. Its for free. Just sign up, upload your pics to photobucket. Once you have done this copy the direct link code for the picture then come in here and press the IMG button when posting the pic and paste the link you copied in between the parameters.

sure dude..its day 2...and to be honest I am a little scared after reading the dealing with sides section...and sites like propeciahelp.com....it feels like only 2% dont get sides....any way I hope its not true...I am just gonna take the half pill, apply the foam twice, and shower with nizoral 3x/week...and hopefully we will have full heads of hair after 6 months

And I def think my hair has gotten thinner in those 7 months, so much so now that I even ordered nanogen conceler for the front to make it look thicker! Which I thought I would never do!! Have not used it yet ... My other half thinks I am being paranoid and my hair is not as bad as I think.. But I know it is.

Gonna post pics after the weekend I think, are u gonna post some pics up Barca? Would be good to see how your hair compares to mine.

Its nice to have someone to go through this with.. I need the moral support! Ha

I dont know dude..I dont like concealers...its like ur fooling ur self....a good thickening shampoo would be nice..do u know any? I been using loeral for like a week and have not noticed any difference....and yes I might take some pics......I just need to get past the first month to make sure there is no sides....its really my biggest concern.. by the way how old r u? I am 19

WOW!! lucky UK, just had a look at your journal.. MAN! that is impressive... your hair transplant looks awesome!! and i think if i did have the money and guts to do it , i could look awesome too, as i hair is better at the moment then your was at pre op.. ! ..

I am still taking Saw Palmetto , MSM, biotin , and a host of other things, which when i spoke to Dr Ashcroft , he told me not to bother and just stick with the proscar, which i will do when my supply runs out..

feel free to message me privately if you guys want to.. like i said the feeling of having someone to talk to about what your going through is one of great importance. Even if you just want moral support.. :O)

Hey Al,

The hair transplant was something I looked into for months, I nearly went to a UK clinic to have it done, it was after doing a bit of research on these forums that I learnt out how bad things could of turned out, so I was lucky enough to cancel my UK hair transplant in time, fly over to the US and get it done for less with more chance of a better result, hence my screen name...

The hair transplant is defo not something to jump into, the advice I was given is to see how well the meds work for you before jumping into it, if you can stabilise or slow down the hairloss then hair transplant is a viable option, otherwise you will be looking at having regular procedures which will become costly and you only have a limited amount of donor hair.

In terms of pain, the first week or so was a bit sore, but as every week passed it was bearable, removing the strip staples was a bit eye watering but was over and done with in 5 miniutes, i'd say the hardest part was hiding the freshly done hair transplant and strip scar under a hat till the new growth phase started, I planned my hair transplant in November so wearing a beanie through the winter months was acceptable and no one blinked an eye, I also put my social life on hold for a few months and got some DIY done at home over the months.

Dr Feller has his prices on his website, I think I paid about £3k converted into dollars but don't quote me on that, the exchange rate is so good right now I cannot think why people still have hair transplant's in the UK because it would of cost me a lot more and most results I have seen have been terrible.

Good luck with the proscar, my advice is try it split into 1/4th and if you experience any sides then reduce it to 1/5th's, I hope it works out for you!

Barca.. i use Revista and Jason Thin to Thick , although i find that my hair feels really dry and horrible when i use them .. good or bad not sure, but i am gonna continue using it.. i am 36 this year, so quite happy that its taken this long for the thinning to start. My Dad is completely bald expect for alittle hair at the back of his head.. so i always knew it was coming! holding onto what i have now is my main concern..

Lucky UK , your my man are in inspiration !! your hair transplant looks awesome!! looks painful and scares me alittle... but i look at you as an example of success man! Well done to you !!!

My Nanogen arrived today , so will have a go at it tonight and see what happens.. alittle wary... but the website demo looks awesome, and even if it give my hair the appearance of looking thicker until the proscar kicks in , great.. !! :O)

Day 5 now and still no funnies!! so feeling happy about it and hopefully will continue to feel that way.. :O) ..

Was gonna start Spectral DNC but decided to wait and see if the proscar helps first, otherwise i will not know what really helped.. and i prefer to pop alittle tablet then put the liquid on my hair twice a day.. :O)

dont feel bad man...we are not how we look u know...its just 50% of who we are......lol jk.
listen we are doing what everyone in the success stories forum did to get his hair back...so trust me if we could get through the first couple of months without sides..we should be fine....if not..then at least we tried..its not the end of the world...so stick to ur regimen and dont look at ur hair every freaking minute..they say it takes time...so just forget about it......btw..english is not my native language so get used to my bad english lol.......hey did msm make ur hair grow faster?

Your totally right.. hair is not who we are .. althought , i think society makes us believe that the way you look matters more then anything .... i just want to be happy with me and how i look in the mirror.. i have always been one of those people who are pretty particular about my hair and how it looks .. grrr..

As far as I'm aware, MSM would have no bearing at all on the density of your hair. It is simply (and only allegedly) something that makes your hair grow faster. Therefore it could only affect your hair density if it increased the number of follicles that are in rest period by speeding up their cycle, but I don't know if it does that. I have dabbled in it but simply cannot see a noticable difference. I Believe alot of people take it for the same reasons they follow a deity, just to be on the safe side - incase they're wrong. Moreover, it's a 'safe' and easily available pill that has positive affects on your joints, so people take it for its other purposes as well.

Ok guys ...... day 10 of taking Proscar and no sides what so ever... so feeling happy about it... :O)

Took some pics of my hair , wet and dry .. from top and sides and OH MAN!!! i REALLY did not realise how depressing the situation really was!! i was soooooo upset and angry after that i have not even been able to look at the pics again !! let alone put them up here for you guys to see!!

In all fairness my hair from the front once styled, I THOUGHT , looked really ok, but in reality , taking pics showed me how other people must now see my thin sh*t hair!!

I started using Nanogen now , and it does make my hair look better but i do like to style my hair with wax and i am finding that after applying the nanogen , great.. .then i add the wax .. and the nanogen seems to come out clumpy on my hands!!! grrrr!!! so i am feeling so fed up!!!GRRRR

Anyways, i just thought i would say hi and fill you guys in on my mood today! , my hair looks horrible!!! ... put the nanogen on , then some hair spray to keep it in, looked ok, then i added alittle wax.. and it just went down hill from there!! i am sitting at my desk at work feeling like a freak!! ha.. i HATE it when my hair does not look its best.. i just want to go home and stay behind closed doors!! ha..

Anyways.. how you guys all doing .. ??
