Revivogen vs Alpecin

Which one of these two is better to halt hair loss (or at least to slow it down)?

A month ago, I started to lose my hair all across the top of my scalp (from the vertex to the front...not at the sides and back). Because I'm 18, I don't think it's still safe to take propecia. At the moment I'm not interested in hair regrowth. My doctor said I have androgenic alopecia and prescribed me minoxidil 5%. But before I devote my life to minoxidil, I think I should give a chance to one of these shampoos and see what happens. If you know any other topical that works better than these and still is safe, please recommend it. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I also have seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff, but for that I'm using Nizoral 2% (started a week ago).

Revivogen is a nice shampoo - but there's nothing in it designed to stop hairloss.

Alpecin C1 shampoo contains caffeine - which supposedly helps aleviate loss. If you're deciding between Revivogen and Alpecin shampoos to help w/ your loss - then Alpecin is the better bet.

You might also want to look into Revita shampoo - which also contains caffeine and a bunch of other ingredients designed to ward off hair loss.

The shampoo has the same active ingredients as the scalp therapy formula, so I don't quite get that statement. But unless the formula is concentrated and left on your scalp for a long time no shampoo (caffeine or not) with anti-androgenic properties are going to be able to have a major impact on follicles.

Thanks for your answers.

If I decide to buy Revita, which one to choose: Revita Shampoo or Spectral DNC? The same question applies to Revivogen. If I decide to buy it, which one to choose: Revivogen Shampoo or Revivogen Scalp Therapy?

Regarding Revita, I red that it causes massive shed. Does it? It also contains Ketoconazole. How safe is it to use on daily basis? Does it create dependency like minoxidil does?

Concerning treadstone's comments above - maybe they reformulated Revivogen shampoo and I missed the memo? If so, I stand corrected.

Revita shampoo and Spectral DNC are different animals.

I used spectral dnc for maybe a year and didn't notice any improvements in my hair.

Re: Revita - some people will always experience a shed no matter what they try. yes, 1 of revita's ingredients is 1% ket. I don't recall anyone complaining about a shed - but it's totally possible. A lot of guys can't handle the zinc content which isn't unique to revita. A lot of revita users complain that it leaves their hair dry (didn't for me). I used it everyday (except the 2x per week I used D. Lee's Regrowth shampoo - and maybe sometimes used my shen min or biotin shampoos) and it was OK for me. (OK so I guess that's not everyday - but 4 - 5 x weekly :smack: )

It's always good to alternate shampoos. I don't think you'd want to use the same shampoo everyday - not matter what the shampoo is.

Thanks again for your answer, hair_tomorrow.

I know I'm bothersome but I have just a few questions before I start my regimen.

What do you say about using revivogen and alpecin together? Do you think it could stop hair loss? I could apply alpecin c1 in the morning and revivogen scalp therapy before bedtime. I could also use nizoral 1% two times a week.

Also what do you think about nano shampoo, is it a better choise than some of the previous three shampoos?

If you know a better regimen than this one, that is more efficient at halting hair loss, please write it (finasteride doesn't consider).

P.S. As I mentioned before, I don't need hair growth, just to halt hair loss... Thanks!

No bother. That's why we're all here :) I think using alpecin 1 in the AM, rev therapy serum in the pm and nizoral 1% 2x per week is a fine idea. Might really help.

Nano is really nice shampoo and definitly has some hair thickening qualities. I used it for several years. Very expensive and didn'ty help w/ MY hairloss. I kept trying though because there weren't that many shampoo options out there. I gave it a fair shot and it didn't help (me).

Thanks a lot hair_tomorrow :bravo:

I am going to buy Revivogen Scalp Therapy soon. But before I buy it, I have a question: Would it be better to use Revivogen Shampoo in the morning instead of Alpecin C1? I am afraid that they would interfere somehow...

Also I red somewhere that Revivogen causes a shed in the first weeks. Is this true? How big is this shed? And what about Alpecin, does it cause a shed?

See my earlier post dated 9/1. (Last I knew, Revivogen shampoo wasn't geared toward fighting hairloss.)

update ~ 9/6/08

from the revivogen website . . .

Revivogen® Bio-Cleansing Shampoo

... Revivogen Bio-Cleansing Shampoo contains the same active ingredients found in the topical Scalp Therapy formulation and is designed to complement its activity—however it is ineffective when used alone....
