Revita is making me go Bald!

Hello, I'm 19 years old and I've been using revita for about a month now. I was using it 5 days a week as suggested, but its made my head super itchy and I've been shedding tons of hairs. My shedding has not slowed down and it isn't small hairs, its full sized thick hairs with little white bulbs on the end. The condition of the hairs being shed leads me to believe that my problem is caused by my poor scalp condition that revita has caused. I've since scaled back to using revita every other day, and leaving it on for much less longer, like 1 minute now. Its been about a week but my scalp is still itchy and I'm still shedding tons! My question is, what should I do about this? Should I continue to use revita? And if so, is there some kind of oil or something that I could put on my head at night to help my scalp out (i'm thinking jojoba oil)? And if I do ditch revita, which I'm really close to doing, will the hair that has shed come back? This isn't miniturized hair, its the real deal, I think I am losing it due to a scalp problem, thats why I'm hoping it will come back. Your responses are appriciated.

Also, I placed this topic in the "shedding" forum as well so as to recieve a larger response, thank you.

If it is having a detrimental effect - drop it.
Dont wash your hair for a week or so, so your scalp returns to normal or add a oil like you said to moisturise it.
When things have returned to normal - get hold of a MILD shampoo that contains Piroctone Olamine and try that instead.

okay

Okay I've stopped all use of revita. What exactly is Piroctone Olamine shampoo? And do you know a good place that I can get it? Preferably without a bunch of chemical additives etc... Also, what can I do to help regrow the hair that has fallen out? Revita did bad things to my scalp, I have like pimples on it now which is super nasty, but also I'm afraid that it destroyed the follicles that I shed so that they won't regrow. Am i right? And is there anything I can do to lesson the damage?

you most likely were getting the famous "anti-androgen" shed that people who get on anti-androgens first experience between months 2-3. Finasteride, dutasteride, revivogen, spironolactone users alll get this early on, then their hairloss slows down dramatically.

However,...............................Its not necessary to use ketoconazole every day up there. It stays in the scalp at theraputic concentration for over 72 hours after a shampoo. Once every three days is PLENTY to use ketoconazole. Just using it on monday's and fridays is probably enough. In fact, it might be kinda hard on the scalp to use every day.

IN my opinion, much of what is in revita might be better used in a topical preparation anyway. Just use storebought nizoral and if you want the other stuff in Revita, buy it in a topical.

one more note,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the "big 3" is the "big 3" for a reason.

This shed isn't normal though I think. My head is super itchy and all borken out, and I'm shedding thick hairs! I think I just can't handle Keto. What I want to know is will these hairs grow back? And what can I do to help them/stop the loss. I'm been massaging jojoba oil into my scalp every night for the past 3 days or so. About the time I stopped using Revita. I think my shedding has decreased slightly, at least I hope so.

If your scalp is itchy and you're getting reddness and hives, then you're probably having a hypersensitivity reaction to the ketoconazole. In otherwords, you're allergic to the shampoo.

This is especially true if you're getting the same phenomenon on other parts of your body, as well, after shampooing.

The same thing happened to me when using keto shampoo. Scalp became greasy, inflamed, with red spots on it. I also shed like a bastard and it turned out to be an allergic reaction. The shed grew back, so don't worry, although I advise you take that Revita and flush it. I oftened wondered about the guys that complain of excessive shedding while on finasteride were actually having a reaction to the Nizoral they are using. I'll say it again...no one takes into consideration that keto is a drug not meant to be slathered on random heads in hopes of growing hair, and certainly should not be used every day as Revita suggests.

If your shedding hairs have bulbs on them than that's indicative of a hair in telogen phase that's already dead! So DO NOT STOP REVITA because it was working!

Isn't there anyway that we can burn into people's heads here before posting that a shed will likely happen before regrowth and that it's a GOOD sign?!?!?

having a bulb doesnt mean anything...yah its dead...but having male pattern baldness causes a greater percentage of your hairs to be in the telogen phase.

So are you saying that hairloss treatments don't induce shedding of hairs in the telogen phase?

I had a bad shed recently into 2 months with Revita, but I'm also seeing a lot of blond hairs on my hairline. I haven't seen those hairs in some time, I can see them in the sunlight when I'm outside.

I'm going to stick with it regardless.

The issue here is (aside from my insane shedding!) the fact that revita has turned my scalp into a warzone. So regardless of the fact that I may be shedding due to hair regrowth revita is still too irritating for me. I just can't use it 5 days a week. I havn't washed my hair since my first post and my head is still itchy and attempting to get back to normal. Perhaps keto is possible for me in the future used at most twice a week, but first I will try prolomine octomine. Also guys, lets not start a forum fight. I do realize that shedding must occur before regrowth, but I didn't expect the amount of shedding I'm seeing, which is major, and it has gone on for about a month or more. My families history of male pattern baldness isn't terrible, its like a Norwood 2.5 at age 30. I just wanted to do a little something to help out, but I don't think revita is the right option. Thanks

freakedout,

If you're using it 5 days a week and your scalp is suffering irritation from this, others have gone to using it every other day and that has helped.

If that doesn't, go every 2 days.

First week I used UP 2% nizoral, I had some itchiness and my scalp was a bit red. After two weeks it was fine. Ultimately you need to just read up on the products and make up your own mind.
