Ok . I'll put everything in perspective.
The mitochondrial respiratory chain is a powerful source of reactive oxygen species (oxidative stress). Mitochondria are the major producer of ROS in cells, and the bulk of mitochondrial ROS is generated at the electron transport chain. Electrons leak from the electron transport chain directly to oxygen, producing short-lived free radicals such as superoxide anion.
Androgen excess and androgen receptor signalling excess produces more oxidative stress....People that go on Testosterone Replacement Therapy see a huge boost of their Mitochondria functions. More energy release=more oxidative stress.
