Retinol instead of Retin-A

I'm going to start using DNC Spectral instead of regular 5% minoxidil in a couple of weeks.
One concern I had was that they added Retinol rather than Retin-A. They still claim it helps in absorbing the minoxidil. Does anyone know if this is true?
I noticed a paper recently on retinol improving the effectiveness of minoxidil in vivo so I think retinol has potential on its own. Just wondering if it will actually help in improving absorption.

Well I justed started to use Spectral a few days ago. The stuff burns a fair bit when I put it on. Anyone have any clue if this is due to the retinol? Is retinol acidic? How readily is it converted to retin-a?

Also does anyone know how effective salycylic acid is compared to retin-a? Have some in my blackhead cream- definitely burns so I'm quite certain is taking some of the outer skin layers off.

Hey mulder, yeah I remember it burning a little at first. Once your skin adjust to it, that feeling will lessen to more of a warm feeling.

As for the Retinol/Retin-A thing, they are not on the same level. Retin-A, in my opinion, is what is going to yield the most re-growth potential. It is actually a skin-peel used for acne and shallow-skined, pre-cancerous cell remover. It also reduces wrinkles.

I like it because, it works great for acne and keeps my skin looking young, and because it makes for better minoxidil/cp absorption on the scalp. Great for stubborn hairlines.

Since you are already on the spectral though, I would get the weakest concentration they make, which is the .025%

0.05% retin-A does burn. But if they are the same price, just get the 0.05% and dilute with minoxidil, unless you think that will mess up the nanosomes.

I think zink will burn too, though.

I've read where many doctors / dermatologists (but not that many, if at all in the US) prescribe retinols rather than retin-a to be used along w/ minoxidil for their patients. So it's not as if what spectral dnc is doing is anything new.

I use spectral dnc, 2x daily.

I also apply a thin coating of retin-a cream to my head, 1 - 2x weekly.

Best of both worlds (I'm hoping).

Where does everyone get their Retin-A cream from? Anyone know if any of the DS Labs stuff has zinc in it?

Spectral DNC burns because it has `capsicum` ,

Capsicum is the hot part from chill peppers usually cayenne pepper.

There is lot more interesting info about Capsicum here ...

Interesting. I didn't even now they threw capsicum in there...DS Labs really has a shotgun approach don't they?

Does anyone combine retin-a with Spectral? Anyone use salicylic acid?
