I have retin-a in a tube left over from back in my teens when my doctor prescribed it for me for acne. I'm 20 now. Do you think its worth a shot to put it on my temples along my hairline and see if I get any growth?

they don't know why it works. It may downregulate the androgen receptor. But it also increases absorption of minoxidil by reddening your skin. And it makes you more sensitive to the sun. My advice is to put a little in your minoxidil. Most studies were done with 0.25% once a day or something, but I think 0.1% in your minoxidil should be just fine and affordable.

I think it is an anti-oxidant, so maybe it increases NO production. NO is like natural minoxidil.
