Hi Folks,

I was just curious if Retin-A can work as a growth stimulator alone? I know people mention its effectiveness in conjunction WITH minoxidil...but I want to hold off on minoxidil for now. Will the Retin-A work as at least a moderate growth stimulator?

I want to add another growth stimulator to my regime but would like to save minoxidil for 1-2 yrs down the road and the thought of the minoxidil shed scares the heck out of me.

Current Regimen:

Propecia for almost 6 years now.
Nizoral 3x a week
Nano Shampoo 3x a week
Jason Thin to Thick
3x a week
Folligen Spray Daily....If I were to get on Retin-A, i think the Folligen would help with the possible irritation.
B Complex and Multi-Vitamin-Have recently started this up again...daily.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Yes, it has been proven to be effective alone. I plan on using it alone.

The combination is better, but either one works alone also.

Topical Retinoids Increase Hair Growth in Most People

Then, in 1986, a group of scientists decided to try topical retinoids and minoxidil on humans with androgenic alopecia (link). After one year of using the combination, 66% of the participants saw regrowth of terminal hairs. None of the participants used minoxidil alone, but some of them did use only retinoids. Applying 0.025% tretinoin topically resulted in hair growth in 58% of the subjects.
