Rethinking my Regime - Need Advice

I posted this on HairLossTalk.com, but I didn't get much of a response. So I thought I'd post it here too since this forum is very active.

I'm about a Norwood 2 with general diffusion. I've been on 0.62mg finasteride EOD about 4 months, a little thickening, a little shed, and lots of vellus and terminal hairs popping up. So no real complaints. Few side effects, just some gyno. Not REAL gyno, I am just storing more fat there. It seems to be getting smaller though. No other side effects, boner rockhard, libido as per usual, etc etc.

However, I like everyone else, want more. I am considering trying minoxidil, considering... but I would like your guys opinion on how I can go about it. Here's the two directions I've made for myself in this venture.

Option One: Buy Dr. Reddy's finasteride from United Pharmacies, cut 0.25mg and take daily. Buy 6 month supply of Kirkland 5% minoxidil to use once daily in the morning.

Option Two: Buy Xandrox Plus 15% with 0.1% finasteride and 5%AA. Cut it alcohol and split into into thirds for a custom solution that is 5% minoxidil/1.6% AA/ %0.33mg finasteride and apply once daily in morning.

And of course nizoral 1% every other day for both regime. Though I will probably go back to using it daily like I once did. Just love what it does for my hair.

Now, option one seems the safest, but the appeal to me to option two is the efficiency and simplicity, I dowse my hair with the tonic in the morning, and I'm done. I believe a steady simple routine is the best one. However, I'm still on the fence on the effectiveness of topical finasteride. Some say yeah, some say nay. Some studies give a thumbs up, others not. *shrug*

Opinions, please. I implore you all!

Start the Big 3 (finasteride 1mg + Rogaine or Kirkland and Nizoral 2%) You can add a topic DHT blocker as S5 Cream

Hoppi, you are just misleading people into trying your "voodoo treatments". You can try voodoo treatments for your own male pattern baldness as much as you want but don't mislead others into trying it and losing their entire hair because your wrong advices.

Mopless, how long you were on finasteride until you started noticing gyno? Just complete 12-14 months with finasteride before considering other treatments, you can add Nizoral if you want but don't start taking minoxidil yet, give finasteride about a year to see full results. I would really rethink about continuing on finasteride if it's giving you gyno, but it's your choice..

I'd say about a month in a noticed my left nipple was more puffy then usual. It's really not all that bad, very mild. No hard or soft lump or anything. My body is just storing more fat there. I've kinda always had puffy nipples, and I'm a little overweight to boot. I'm not really worried about it, to be honest. It's barely noticeable now. I've started a new exercise regime, mostly for weight loss and general health, so maybe that will help. *shrug*

I have been on nizoral already for about a year now. I alternate it with Folligen shampoo. The stuff kills any itch I use to have, love it.

The main reason I am considering adding minoxidil is it just seems I'm going to eventually, anyway. So why not go ahead and get on it, kinda deal. Though i will only use it once daily, never twice.

I'm just trying to see if the topical finasteride in minoxidil works or not, as it would make a hairloss regime very streamline if all you do is squirt the stuff on your head and rub in. However, many people, including myself, seem to be on the fence on the efficiency of topical finasteride. So I may just say screw it, use normal finasteride with minoxidil for now until more evidence of how effective it truly is comes to light.

It could be your estrogen levels being a little high, possibly.

Apparently, DIM and I3C both lower free estrogen, and flax seeds will increase your SHBG (as will good exercise and diet) and so "mop up" free T and estrogen :)

If you notice it getting worse, I would drop your finasteride dosage or perhaps even stop it entirely for a little if you want to be on the safe side. Either should work, but just be careful you don't get gyno! lol
