This is from a hairsite board user. It sounds interesting. Although we don't have anything that works really well for our problem at least the research seems to be exploring a few different options. ( at least that is what i tell myself)

"Apparently a laser treatment followed by injections of stems cells. Dont know if clinical trials would be needed for this sort of treatment?

The applicants are a laser company,RELIANT TECHNOLOGIES, and an MD at Stanford, Basil Hantash.

Interesting quote, line [0095]:
"This allows the hair to begin to grow and cycle similar to a normal hair"

Abstract:
A method of restoring hair to skin that has suffered hair loss includes optically ablating an array of spaced-apart microchannels or voids into the skin and transplanting into the voids stem cells, a scaffold and a differentiation factor for causing the stem cells to differentiate into hair follicles"
