Hello All

Im just wanting to check my regimen, need some advice again.

I am currently taking finasteride (Proscar) 1mg a day for the last 3 months. I was using Nizoral 2% and T-Gel but i stopped them because i have a terrible itch constantly and pain of the scalp when pressed.

To try and beat this Itch ive been using Tricomin shampoo and conditioner, i have also just bought Tricomin Spray for overnight. I am also going to try and use Inflamil to see if its inflamation of the scalp causing the pain.

I still have about 85% of my hair but ive noticed over the last few months the top of my head is thinning more and the front has receeded more. I lose about 150 hairs a day, which is scary but i dont think it matters.

I thought about apply minoxidil to my receeding hairline now to try and catch things?? What do you think, think i should wait to see if the finasteride brings it back??

Does it matter that nizoral is not in my regimen at all??

All advice greatly received, may thanks.

Stick it out with finasteride for a while, and then if needed down the line, add minoxidil. You never know, you might not be needing anything more than finasteride/nizoral.

Is there anything wrong by just using minoxidil on the temples? Dont use nizoral by the way, is that wrong, was given me a terrible itch i think.

Nothing wrong with using minoxidil on the temples and as for Nizoral itch, I havent experianced that and I have been using it for a few months now.

How necessary is nizoral? I know there are people who swear by it, but my impression was that it was for scalp conditions. I haven't noticed any scalp conditions (yet), such as inflammation.

Also, maybe this is a stupid question, but is its 2% minoxidil concentration enough to make follicles minoxidil-dependent? I've seen enough horror posts about minoxidil to be a little wary of this.

re:

I would say I have about 85% of my hair and I have been using finasteride and minoxidil for about three months and I believe I have seen improvment. I had used nizoral early on but I stopped because I have no scalp issues and the nizoral left my hair very flat.

My scalp itched and flaked like alaska for around 2 - 3 months after starting finasteride / minoxidil but eventually settled down (it had never been an issue previously)

I have not experienced itchynes, redness, inflamation or flakeyness for almost 14 months now, absolutely nothing.

I used T/Sal - Nizoral and T/Gel, they took along time to control finasterides influence on my scalp.
