Recession in temples so rapid it changes noticeably in 24hrs

I started a shed in Dec 04 and it continues today. My Derm has told me I have Telogen Effluvium, but my temples are receeding daily. Because of this I doubt it is Telogen Effluvium, but if it is Telogen Effluvium, will my temple recession ever stop or at least slow?

I always knew that I would have temple recession, but I thought it would take until I was about 70 to be where it is right now. When the shedding in Dec kicked in my male pattern baldness went crazy. Is there anybody out there that can shed any light on the effect of Telogen Effluvium on male pattern baldness.

It is likely that I have some amount of Telogen Effluvium, but there is no disputing the fact that I have male pattern baldness in the temples also. My right temple gets worse everyday, noticeably, and that can't be its normal rate, if I never had the Telogen Effluvium. My question is, supposing I have had Telogen Effluvium, will my unbelievably rapid rate of recession in my temples go back to normal when the Telogen Effluvium stops?

Please help.

Well, if it really does change in 24 hours, I personally doubt it's male pattern baldness, hehe.
About Telogen Effluvium, since I've done some research on it: It can apparently trigger male pattern baldness in people who may have the gene in them. You can read that as "all men", really. However, after the Telogen Effluvium is over, the hair should grow back, as far as i know.

Well, I agree with you about the changes in 24hrs and how that is not really inline with male pattern baldness, but it hasn't stopped for over 4 months now, and it is happening on my temples, traditional male pattern baldness area. But I don't agree with you about it coming back if it is Telogen Effluvium. I have total baldness in part of my right temple and I just have a very difficult time believing that anything is coming back there. I am praying that all just stops progressing this fast.

eek, when you say Telogen Effluvium can trigger male pattern baldness, do you mean trigger it so that male pattern baldness continues until baldness or do you mean trigger it so that male pattern baldness occurs while the Telogen Effluvium is still there and male pattern baldness stops when the Telogen Effluvium stops?

I'll admit I'm not sure, as everything I've read wasn't too clear about that. I guess it depends on the case. Telogen Effluvium can probably start it. It might stabilize after the Telogen Effluvium is over, and not move. You might regrow some. And you might just not stop receeding. That's how i view it. I'm having alot of difficulty believing my hairloss is male pattern baldness, personally. I'm just hoping stuff will grow back, but it's not gonna happen till I resolve all my psych. issues.

I heard that some one in this forum also had the same problem.

I recommend that u examine the situation for a while. Eg. look at the hairs it had regrown if it had become thinner a not. As minituarization of hairs is a characteristic of male pattern baldness.

If the hair regrow is still thick, there is a high chance that ur Derm is right abt Telogen Effluvium.
