The person responsible is from the Australia area ... his IP address is: 144.139.129.194 .... he seems to have issues getting along with Gardener, or has had some interpersonal runins with him.

Traxdata .... you posted some remarkably hacker-like comments during the middle of the "take over" ... however I am going to assume that he somehow got into your account and typed those words for you, or modified your posts ....

"ix" was implicated in the attack as well...

Maybe the IP and geographic location of the person will help narrow it down among those who dislike Gardener Any thoughts or insight ... feel free to PM me.

I got that exact email, and the "Please don't try anything" kind of freaked me out. I was afraid someone had kidnapped someone I knew. Then it wouldn't let me see the site and I knew sh*t was f*cked *p.

I was online at the time the hack happened, I believe it was fairly late on Wednesday night. I was not involved in any sort of disagreement with anyone at the time in advance of the hack.

Then, I remember the hacker posting the sticky note at the top of the forum claiming the site was hacked, and I did post one reply to his sticky. My reply was indeed of a nature that the hacker might have found to be 'provocative', but after posting a second message as a reply to one of Cassin's threads, I went offline. I am not sure what all transpired after that, as I can't see the thread, but if Gardener was involved then it wasn't me doing the typing!

I can see where you are coming from. Sorry if it had cause for concern. I actually run a forum of my own using phpBB so I know the ins and outs as well as you do. Sorry if it caused you concern. Did not mean it to be like that. So apologies there. I was a little disapointed that action was not taken sooner. I kind of felt that the site had been abandoned hence we all kind a went a bit ape on the site. I really did think it was going down.

And yes, I was taking the P out of the hacker.....

Anyway it's good that we are back to normal and we can carry on our fight and help others.

Trax .... I dont know why this didn't bother me sooner, but I was driving around today and it really started to bug me. Your post during the hack attack was .... well it was so offensive that I genuinely thought the hacker had hijacked your account and edited your comments to say something only a hacker would say.

I wrote it off originally, assuming just that. Because the words you chose (and I can't remember them exactly right now) were pretty much not only encouraging the hacker, but congratulating him on a job well done, as well as a few other choice comments.

I thought nothing of it until your post above, where you actually seem to express that something was 'Okay' about the hacking attack because you felt like nobody was paying attention to these forums, and that you'd felt abandoned by us as the owners of this forum.

Again I didn't think much of that comment until I put the two together. I have fairly good intuition and a very good understanding of human psychology .... and to be completely honest, those two things together don't sit well with me at all. This combined with the fact that the hacker really didn't do anything to the forums at all except cause a scare ... goes right along with the whole "attention" issue as well. Whoever did it could very easily have completely deleted the entire database, but didn't.

Normally I would consider this a stretch, but I just can't get over the things you wrote during the hack attack. They weren't normal, stable comments. Add to this the fact that you are very familiar with phpBB and its vulnerabilities .........

Oh well. Only you know the truth.

Hi, I can assure you that I had absolutley nothing to do with the hijacking of your forums. That's for sure. For one. I'm not supid and two, why would I want to do something like that.

I'm a little lost now because I only made comments about phpBB and that was all. Did something else happen here that I don't know about. And the only reason I made comments about phpbb is because I run one.

I certainly didn't congratulate the hacker. If this is the case then yes, I would also asume that he messed with my posts and made some edits.

I would like to think of myself as a valued member of this site. I don't know everything but I try to give advice where I can and help people. Yes I can be sarcastic sometimes but that's just my sense of humour. But I certainly don't go out to offend people. And it seems you feel that I have written something so awful that it has offended you. Well, I can only remember a phpBB post comment so now I'm struggeling to remember what I actually said. It's starting to worry me.

And it is starting to feel a little like a witch hunt. Which I don't appreciate.
