Receding Hairline At 40 - What Protocol Should I Use

Hello,
I always had an extremely large forehand, but it seems now that, over the years, Ive lost a bit of hair around the corners. I believe this would make me an N2? Reading through the forums Start Here thread, it appears I should take the following steps:
1. Propecia for DHT inhibitor
2. Rogaine for growth stimulant
3. Nizoral for anti-inflammation

Do these steps look right for the type of hair loss I am experiencing? Any I should remove or add? Would hair transplant be a viable option for this pattern of hair loss?

Thank you all in advance!

The protocol you should use is being grateful as hell you look like that at 40.

But for real you listed your options. Use what you feel necessary.

Haha. I showed your response to my girlfriend and she loved it as it's exactly what she says to me. Regarding the items I listed, would all 3 be necessary for desired results?

Use all 3 for optimal results I'm sure. However I don't use minoxidil. Very expensive and the reviews i read are mixed. A lot says it doesn't help/made things worse. It's a lot to tackle too (twice a day application). Finasteride is for sure though.

You look better than me at 26.

So sorry Im late with my responses here. I had a short deployment not long after originally posting this. I see you're saying I should use all 3 for optimal results. With that, I am only experiencing hair loss at the "peaks", not on the top or anywhere else. With that said, would all 3 be overkill? Is there 1 protocol better specifically for receding hairline (N2)?

Imo a good fue transplant is the best for a receding hairline especially at 40 unless it was recently lost. Minoxidil works for some on hairline when caught early..I'm sure others may have a different opinion.

One thing you have going for you. Your baldness started later in life (not 20s).

Usually guys who start balding later don't have it as aggressive. That said:

You need to use the "Oh f***, time for aggressive treatment" protocol. Especially at 40.

Lots of finasteride, combined with minoxidil.

Don't wait.

Thank you for your response Kidbako. I will definitely research FUE transplant. I know there is a lot covering it on this site.
Regarding Minoxidil, you feel as though it would be the best "drug" approach for front hairline loss?

Do you have hair loss (shedding), when did you notice your hairline receding.

I think if you don't take any drugs (finasteride, minoxidil ...), you still will not loose your hair (your hair status will remain the same).

I think you only need a bit regrowth, therefore stick only to the growth stimulants (minoxidil, minoxidil oral, RU, Seti, other, I use Alpicort)

Yes especially since the rest of your hair looks quite healthy. If you were thinning on top I would say finasteride plus min. A Receding hairline is the most resistant to drugs and hardest to return. If u were to go the transplant route that is when I would jump on finasteride to keep the hair from receding further.

He doesn't need a transplant. He has a lot of hair for his age. He's not balding aggressively.

Minoxidil will grow back your hairline. But only if you jump on it quick.

It just wanted tested there, so they can't claim that. It grew mine back, many decades
ago.

If you're balding aggressively a transplant is the last thing you would do. First you have to stabilize your hair from falling out.He is 40 with stabile hair with a receding hairline that is annoying to him. And there's no guarantee that min will give him the hairline he wants but it's working a shot.

Excellent advice. Thank you all. So it looks like, at least initially, I should give Minoxidil a go. Ive gone to Amazon and I have a bunch of options pulled up. Is there a particular version I should use for my particular scenario (foam, liquid, etc)? I assume application would be regulated to where I am losing hair? Lastly, is there a risk of Minoxidil causing the hair loss to accelerate? I ask this because it would be a shame to make it to 40 with slow recession only to potentially accelerate it with product.

I would buy the 5% foam (less messy)
Apply to balding area your concerned with..just takes a small amount in your case..it melts after applying and dries quickly.

40 is an acceptable age to go bald, i'd say just accept it. going bald in your 20's however is not

He's not even close to being bald though.
Even if he did nothing, he'd likely still look like a normal guy in his 50s.
Kind of reminds me of a song from Jawbreaker called Jet Black:
"Your floor is my ceiling"

Golden,if you were 50 years old with hair like that would you want a transplant still? And let's say you were single too?

If I had hair like that at 27 I would have been happy, at 30 I'd swap in a heartbeat.
If you're single at 50 with hair like that, then hair isn't your problem. I wouldn't get a hair transplant that's for sure.

I am sure if you cut your hair like his, it would look the same even before you had a transplant. When your hair is short like that it can give the illusion of a full head of hair.
