Receding From The Back?

When I used to get haircuts I would tell her to "square it off in the back", now however it is impossible to be squared off as the side hairlines on the back of my head have receded in and the bottom part has receded up. Is this normal? And has anyone ever gotten regrowth?

At least its in the back and not in front.Can you post some pics?
