Hi there -

I started using Nizoral 2% and frankly I don't think it is doing much, I am probably going to stop using it. However, what is the resoning behind using nizoral and why is it " suppose " to help. What is the logic???

it helps the scalp condition (stops the itchy flaky scalp) that might hinder some of the effects of the hair loss treatments. It is also thought to have growth stimulant properties similar to minoxidil 2%.

And ketokonazole (the active ingredient) acts as a mild anti-androgen.

It doesn't do much by itself, but every little bit helps, and considering that one bottle last several months, its a very inexpensive and easy to do addition to your regimen. If you quit using it, I doubt it will affect your results much though.

Personally I think it just keeps the scalp healthy so that other hairloss treatments ( especially topcials ) are more effective.
