Reasonable finasteride dosage

So... I think I'll start with finasteride and will keep doing it until something better (like CB) will appear and just hope everything will be fine. I see no point in waiting two years or so, hair loss may accelerate pretty fast in that time and I'd really punch myself for not trying it earlier.

What is the lowest reasonable dose? I saw some studies that side effects apparently are more likely to occur at 5mg compared to 1mg, so even though the DHT is suppressed pretty much the same in both cases, something else seems to be going on. So I'd like to take the lowest reasonable dose. Would 0.5 mg be fine?

I read this graph about 0.2mg already being enough, but don't know about a lot of other research...

Do you think 0.5mg will be just as good as 1 mg? Or could I even go 0.33mg? 0.25mg? I'd like to take the lowest possible dose that still will likely be effective.

I also got a second question: If you are on finasteride and take it e.g. for 2 years and then stop it, the receptors in your hair follicles probably are upregulated somewhat due to decreased amounts of DHT... So if you were to stop finasteride for some reason, does this mean that some time later you will lose even more hair compared to what you would have lost if you never touched finasteride?

Thanks everyone!

did you have any sides? Currently I'm most worried about the penis shrinkage and all that garbage I read... Man, if I could just know if this is all exaggerated or lots of people experience this...

Thank you! I think I'll start with 0.125mg (1/8 fincar) and then go up to 0.25mg after a week or two and stay there. For some reason, side effects are reported more often on the 5mg compared to the 1mg, so maybe the dose makes a difference. On the other hand, the most guys who use 5mg probably use it for the prostate and are old, so more likely in general to get side-effects (even on placebo) or they react faster to small changes... Who knows. 0.25mg is supposed to work pretty much as good as 1.0mg or is there any reason to suspect otherwise?
