Didn't you just start thyroid meds? I wouldn't be surprised if that caused a temporary shed.
I have severe thyroid disease. The meds won't cause the shed but the thyroid will. If you have thyroid disease, Pavi, that's your answer to shedding.

Pavi, honestly, you may need therapy. That's not normal to be that upset over hair. Until I joined this forum I had never seen the type of self-loathing associated with hair-loss in my life. Many of my friends started losing their hair at 18 and they just shaved it and got on with life. Some tried products but none sat at home and sulked.
I really think the root problem for many people on here is low self-esteem regardless of hair. I hope that along with your hair care you find a good therapist. Nothing is worth that type of depression. If you really want to do something then I think finasteride or dutasteride are your only options. Aside from that, just shave it or use minoxidil and rock your hair until you can't anymore. Either way, go out and enjoy your life.
I've seen people with cancer and real life tragedies deal better than some of these guys.
But T3 is good for hairAnecdotally, I've found that anything that alters your hormonal balance can cause your hair to shed some your body adjusts
I would agree that any changes with thyroid will cause shedding. The thyroid is a nightmare. I'm at a TSH of 50 right now. Not .50 like 50.0 out of a .450-4.50 scale. But I only shed when I'm hyper typically
So do you think it will stabilize? I have been on T3 (Liothyronine) for a week and a half now
Oh it will def stabilize. What's your TSH, FT3 or FT4 #'s?
I actually have hyperthyroidism. But they always give me too much anti-thyroid medicine (methimazole) trying to correct my dose and I swing hypothyroid.
Assuming your scales are similar to mine with FT4 being 0.80-1.8 you are right in the sweet spot. That's great. My Derm always says it takes up to 6 months of stable thyroid numbers to get shedding stabilization. I found it takes much less. Also, they always assure me while you will shed due to the thyroid, you won't go bald.I was sub clinical hypothyroid.
On medicine:
TSH 2.14
FT3 3.1
FT4 1.0
Since adding T3 I haven't tested but I will soon

For the longest time I was convinced it was the meds causing the shed until I stopped taking them and found out it was the meds stopping it because I lost a lot of hair.
I think you may have found the reason you're shedding. This should make you feel relieved. As soon as you said you have thyroid problems I thought "hold on" that's important, it changes everything. Because if you google Hairloss causes. One of the first listed reasons everytime is thyroid disorders. It's a very well known cause.
Good news: Hairloss due to thyroid and medication will almost certainly always grow back.
They told me it takes about a month for thyroid medicine to fully work. This is because while it works on your thyroid immediately, your old thyroid hormone is still cycling I'm your blood.
Also, thyroid disorders wreak havoc on your mood and depression.
Thanks for such a long response. I actually have thyroid disease and male pattern baldness. Ever since I had thyroid issues my male pattern baldness became diffuse, which I hope is the thyroid. It does make sense that my thyroid medicine could cause this shed, since I just started the T3 and I was very stable on the minoxidil and T4. I added T3 because my FT3 was decreasing and my symptoms weren't getting better
im really depressed guys. My hair situation has turned 180 and I don't know why. All I do is cry in my room and I'm so sad. I just needed to vent guys. Why do I have to experience this at 20? I began at 16. It isn't f*****g fair
