Hi , i would like to know if it is possible to get back to NW1 hairline with propecia ? Can a NW2 go back to Norwood 1 by using propecia? Or is that only achievable with HM ?

its just my oppinion but i think NW2 looks better than NW1 in most cases... if the meds can thicken up a NW2, you can have some great hairstyles... NW1 is for kids....lol.

Im 31 most people in their 30's who arent evenloosing hair are closer to NW2 than NW1, it can look unnormal not to be receeding in the temples at this age...

I agree. A thick NW2 looks awesome. Especially on a 30+ cacausian male. It looks distinguished and handsome.

NW1 only looks good if your a teen. Older guys look like idiots with a NW1. I laugh at guys with convex hairlines and who are like 40 and grey, it looks sooo stupid not to mention feminine and girly looking.

True. But it still looks funny on older men.

Compare the hairline of this footballer who is 30'ish compared to the handsome thick nw2 of Sean Penn or Johnnie Knoxville. To me this footballer looks like a complete moron with that hairline, it looks stupid and unnatural and certainly NOT handsome. I would never want a hairline like his in million years. Granted its still better than being bald. But I would take the mature thick NW2 anyday of the week.

Unfortunately no. Maintenance is pretty much what you'll get with finasteride.

You see this is the problem! NW2 are RARELY thick enough. Callums hair is the perfect example (although looks pretty good) but its far to thin. If he had the same amount of recession, but much thicker forelock he would look awesome.

i think NW1 is definitely better than NW2 , being a NW2 you will just continue receeding in the future and eventually will be worse than NW2 since the balding gene is triggered. and being a NW1 you can have more choices of hairstyle !

BTW , my question is if anyone successfully got back to NW1 with the help of med?

Thaat isnt true.... everyones hairloss is different, some people can go to NW2 in their late 20's and it can stay that way for another 20 years.... ive read that a persons DHT levels decrease from the age of 30 onwards... hence people who only start receeding in their 30's do so at a lot slower rate and less dramatic in apearance... "Maturing gracefully" i think they call it...

I have never seen ir heard of this occuring on my history on this board or in real life. I don't believe its possible to regain your juvenile hairline once you have lost it. Which is really what a NW1 is. Which is what your asking. So no definately not possible without a transplant.

Bringing this page back up as fascinetes me.

I have been NW2 since i was about 15, im now 22 - always have had very very thick hair all over and loved being an NW2 with lots of thick hair - infact never even thought about male pattern baldness.

Well in the last 4 months i have shed hair mentally, it is much much thinner ALL OVER and still going - i think some shed is def due to some health issues but it is now showing itself in the 'Male pattern' way - ie the square front bit as in the pic of knoxville is now very thin and slightly going backwards, and hair is thinning around crown, although no more real recession around temples.

Not sure if this is happenning because these are the 'edges' or 'parting' which will show more if i am losing hair diffusely because of something else, or whether this is just the sign that i am losing it naturally too - its just strange how literally over night, bam, i have lost serious amounts, this isnt a gradual thing.

Not sure how rapid rapid male pattern baldness loss is - but i loose way way north of 100 per day - that many in the shower, loads all over my pillow, loads on my desk, loads on my clothes - oh and my eyebrows are thinning too.

Also - i have seen that guys (like me) can stay in mature NW2 for ages then lose it quick, but the pattern that i have gone is;

- NW2 VERY thick - no loss for more than 8/9 years.
- March 2010 - severe diffuse loss begins - literally all over scalp, no pattern to it.
- April 2010 - First thing i notice is that a once very thick crown (couldnt even get my finger in it) is much thinner with a bald patch which is growing.
- May/June 2010 - Only now has the front got much thinner & started going backwards.

I also thought the sides/top in this was of loss stayed thick but it has just gone massively thin everywhere.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I am thinking about going natural - like procerin or something.

Thanks,
L

And sorry about the long post guys;

My hair line is NOW the same as knoxvilles in the pic on this thread, but way thinner.

4 months ago it was similar to knoxvilles (perhaps a little wider out front) but easily as thinck, if not id say much thicker - my hair dresser has always ranted at me for having tanlged hair and had to spend 5 mins thinning it every time i have a cut - all the way up to my last cut about 4 weeks ago ago when he stood their and went 'oh, well this doesnt need thinning at all this time - have you been doing it yourself?'!!!! all this happened between 2 6 week cuts! sure that is too fast for this degree of male pattern baldness?
