We, Aderans Co., Ltd., have conducted nationwide surveys on men's hair loss ratio every few years since 1982.
The surveys have also been conducted worldwide, starting from the U.S.A. in 1996, to European, Asian and Oceania regions.

Now, we have gathered 16 regions’ data.
This unprecedented survey will enable us to compare and analyze the interrelations between life styles (such as dietary life) and hair loss ratios, not to mention the interrelations between regional (i.e. racial and ethnical) differences and hair loss ratios.

It is generally said that Western people tend to have higher hair loss ratios than Asian people.
Our survey results give us a hint that this generalization is a reliable fact or not.

We, as “the total hair-care & solution company", operate in 12 countries worldwide with the slogan "Aderans as a global brandâ€￾.
Conducting the worldwide surveys on hair loss ratios leads our development and expansion of the range of products and services in the global hair-loss markets.
We will keep conducting the survey in main cities in the world and provide the data from the survey for the comprehensive comparisons.

- Overview of Survey-

<Research Method>Visual observation of passersby in main cities of the world: Two groups of researchers stand at the same point where they can clearly see the heads of passersby, and count the number of men who are considered to be over 20 and the number of men who can be considered suffering from hair loss under our hair loss standards. The researches are conducted at three locations, and the averages of the figures obtained by the two teams are used to compute the average ratio of men with thinning hair.

<Hair Loss Standards>Judging the condition of the hair, like receding front hairline and/or beginning of hair loss on the top of or at the back of the head, based upon our many years of experience in dealing with hair loss. The estimated hair loss population is the figure of the hair loss ratio from the research times the men's population in the area where the research is conducted.

<Hair Loss Ratio inside and outside Japan>The last six researches tell us that the hair loss ratio in Japan is up by 65% in 19 years. The possible reasons for the rise are the rise in the average age of the targeted population due to population aging, increased adoption of western diet and increased stress, not to mention hereditary factors. The hair loss ratio in Japan is the highest among the Asian nations and it does support the idea that Japanese society has been westernized. Globally, the survey clearly tells that Western men tend to have higher ratio of hair loss than Asian men.

firstly this numbers dont give any kind convincing conclusion. The percentage increase seems to tally mainly with the population increase and other factors like aging population to a small extent..
