Quitting Propecia 1mg

Hi there,

I've been on this drug for about 14 months but have decided to quit, not due to side effects but just because of the worries of future damage I could do down the line in say 10 years as it does mess with your hormones after all.

I would say I might have had some mild side effects like a loss of sexual desire and dry skin on the nose but nothing severe. And who's to say this wasn't just a mental thing as I had read about potential sides before taking it and this could have just been in my head.
I've heard about this Propecia Crash you can have after stopping the drug and I'm just wondering how common this Crash is and would the potential side effects be worse or just a continued version of what I had i.e. people who initially get the really bad side effects will have a bad Propecia Crash.

Are there anyone who have come off finasteride after a while and experienced no issues?

Any advice/ stories would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

How did propecia treat your hair in those 14 months? Maintained? Regrowth? Slowed? Do whatever you feel is right, so I won't question you dropping finasteride.

I've not gone off propecia and probably never will unless another treatment comes along or I get severe sides, but have gone off other meds that cause withdrawal symptoms. It's called SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome which really really sucks.
Best advice I got from that whole thing was SLOW TAPER. Just slowly ween yourself off of it.

hi, thanks for the response. I would say it definitely maintained and maybe even improved. It was only the early onset of thinning on the crown so nothing major. I'm nearly 31 and i decided my health is more important than my hair. I just hope i don't get this Propecia Crash i read about on the forums. I should really stop looking at them lol
