sorry guys but i seem to be getting conflicting answers every time i search this

1) Nizoral 1% or 2%
2) how often should you use it?
3) How to use it (rub into hair for 5 mins then wash it out) do you need to do anything else?
4) how effective is it if you used it by itself.

thanks guys

1) Nizoral 2% for reasons stated under 4)

2) 2-4x per week as most studies done in regards to Androgenetic Alopecia treatment suggest

3) Apply about 5mL, lather, leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse off, following up with a moisturising conditioner left on for 2-3 minutes if you find Nizoral makes your hair look dry

4) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9669136 according to this study, when used 2-4x per week it was as effective as 2% minoxidil used daily in terms of hair regrowth. It also acts as a weak androgen receptor antagonist and DHT synthesis inhibitor via 17-alpha-hydroxylase enzyme inhibition.

Many here will suggest that you use 1% Nizoral with the only reason being is the vague 'it's not as harsh on your hair'. If you can tolerate 2% Nizoral, use it. It's more effective as proven in clinical studies. Think of it this way, how many people on this forum do you see recommending people to use 2% minoxidil instead of 5%? Puts things into perspective.

I have been on Minoxidil 5% and Nizoral 2% for the last six years and have been successfully able to maintain my hair. I don't have a very aggressive case of male pattern baldness. My hairline was always crooked with recession in the right temple. It worsened a bit when I turned 14 or 15 and I experienced some loss on my left temple which is now a NW2. Over the next three to four years I lost some density. I started with Minoxidil 5% when I was 21 and soon added Nizoral 2% to the mix. Thus far the results have been satisfactory.

I suggest you shampoo your hair with Nizoral EOD and try leaving it on your scalp for 5 minutes before washing it with cold water. Of course it dries your hair but in my case this is a plus as my hair appears thicker when it is dry and it cosmetically makes me look like I don't have much hair loss unless my temples are exposed by the wind.
