Hallo,
I've been lurking around these forums a for a bit, just kinda reading and whatnot and now I have some questions for you guys.
My questions:
1) I started on finasteride just over 3 months ago (proscar pills cut in 5, so approximately 1mg a day) and I've noticed over maybe the last 4-7 days or so that my shedding has increased to about double what it was. I used to lose about 10-15 or so hairs in the shower but it seems like im losing around 20-25.
most of the hairs I lose are much shorter though (like half the size of the rest of my hair) with some longer thin ones mixed in.
My question about this is whether I should be more concerned about losing short hairs or the long ones? is it worse to lose short thick ones as opposed to longer thin ones? is a finasteride shed typical?
2) I currently use head and shoulders (have for many years, at least 5+) and recently purchased some nizoral, but am hesitant to start using it as I've read that it causes a big shed in some people. My scalp doesnt feel iritated, and I get very little itching (as in the occasional itch in a single spot that stops after a scratch or two. The itches seem less frequent lately anyways).
My question here is this: Should I get off the Head and shoulders and switch to something without the pyrithione zinc in it? if I start on a smaller regimen of Nizoral (say once a week) am I less likely to get a nizoral-shed? would it still have a benefit if I did it that infrequently?
3) Should I combine a topical anti-androgen with my finasteride treatment? i.e. spironolactone or something of the sort?
any information is appreciated and thanks for reading my thread
