Im new in this forum. I am 20 years old and have been receding for about two years I think. Im guessing im about Norwood 1.5. Would you recommend finasterid to maintain what I have? What results can I expect?
If i add minoxodil to my regimen and regrow the temples, could i maintain this with finasterid and drop the minoxodil?
I'd hold off on the minoxidil. minoxidil probably wouldn't do much for someone who is an Norwood 1.5, and because its kind of a "one shot" deal, you might want to wait until you get a bit older and have a better idea as to how your hairloss is evolving.
I would get on the finasteride. That's probably the best tool for you now. Besides, if the finasteride works, then you will only have to pop a pill every day, and not have to worry about the topicals every morning. Considering that a hairloss treatment regimen is something that you are going to have to do every day for the rest of your life, finasteride is a lot easier for the lifestyle!

No. Any hair that the minoxidil regrew will be shed once you stop taking minoxidil. The finasteride will help maintain your hair and will probably give you some regrowth and thickening, but it won't "take the place" of minoxidil if a hair was regrown specifically as a result of its reaction to minoxidil.
