Question on Revivogen shampoo

Hello,

On the bottle of revivogen shampoo there is nothing mentioned about how often it should be used.

I shower twice a day and since I got the shampoo I've also been using that twice a day as well. Each time in the shower I was my hair once with reguar shampoo to get the oit out, then wash my hair again with the revivogen for the DHT blocking aspect.

However a friend of mine told me to maybe check and make sure that I'm not overdoing the revivogen.

Anyone have any experience on this?

Thanks.

Kam,
like you I use the Revivogen shampoo and I decided to make use of it this way:
Shampoo at night before application of my topicals,
Shampoo and Conditioner (half/half) in the morning before Rogaine foam application. (I find the conditioner very hard to get through all of my hair, thus the addition of some shampoo for volume in application)

I found this helps to create the appearance of thickening my thin hair somewhat as I go out into society....

But this is just my approach. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks Justin,

So basically you also use it twice a day without any awkward side effects.

I should be ok then.

Doesn't your hair get dry and lifeless when you shampoo it that much?

I know that the oily feeling is terrible, but your hair does need some that.

Why would your hair need oil?

Actually, the combination of ingredients in Revivogen shampoo/conditioner seems to make it soft and silky with a natural healthy appeal. (Do I sound like a commercial? lol)

Even my twin brother (who's usually a little abrasive with his directness) commented about my hair, wanting to know why it was looking so great.

I've been using Revivogen shampoo twice daily prior to applying Xandrox for the past 4 months with no bad effects. I use Nizoral shampoo three times a week. Without the Revivogen the Nizoral left my hair feeling quite dry and itchy. I think the Revivogen is a good general cleansing shampoo at a decent price but I doubt it's efficacy as a DHT inhibitor. Nizoral three times a week is widely recognised as a better topical. Hope this helps.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the oil prevent your hair from becoming dry, which leads to hair that breaks easily?

Not only that, but there is a plethora of environments that the scalp can sustain. Too much sebum will cause seborrheic dermatitis. Too little sebum will cause dry, itchy dandruff and possibly dermatitis, as well. I think that person needs to maintain a healthy balance.

I used to shampoo that much, as well. At first, when you wash your hair that much it feels great and your hair is full of life and relatively "bouncy". However, that's short lived and once the oil comes back it's lifeless again and breaks easier.

I shampoo once a day, unless you count a 20 second pre-wash and 5 minute therapudic shampoo as twice a day. But I put oleic acid in my pre-wash shampoo so it won't be as surfacting. And it is baby shampoo.

My hair is so short it might not need much oil. But I put borageseed oil and fish oil in all my topicals to counter the drying of ethanol.

I also use Revivogen shampoo; doesn't leave my scalp dry like Dr. Lee's Ketoconazole. Based on the ingrediants (same as in the reg treatment), it should eliminate some scalp dht. Plus, it has that nice chocolate mint smell lol.

hey docj, no actually my hair feels fine.. I think that my body naturally generates a lot of oil (even though i eat very healthy and go to the Gym 6 days a week) so usually by my seconds shower i have a small coating of oil on my head anyways.

My hair feels really good though after washing it twice in the shower.

With all this talk about Nizoral, I think i'm going to have to get some. Do you have a link to where I can purchase the 2%?

Mine used to feel good after washing it twice, as well. I don't know what the deal is, but since I've started using baby shampoo, I've started noticing an interesting phenomenon. I'll wash my hair and it'll still feel oily, but once I dry it my hair feels fine and is actually more managable with no noticable oiliness returning throughout the day.

I'm going to stick with this shampoo for a while. Go with what works for you. I've used Revivogen shampoo before and it did nothing for me. However, that doesn't mean that it won't work for you.

Nizoral (twice a week) dried my scalp out to almost unimaginable levels, so now I have the most major case of dandruff I've had in my entire life and am on selsun blue moisturizing stuff to try and combat it. Nizoral = never again. I have extremely sensitive skin and it's getting to the dry part of the year, though, so that's probably why this happened, but the stuff is still way too harsh for me as I used to shampoo every day through the last few years with the same shampoo I was using 5 days a week while on nizoral and nothing like this ever happened. I'm now losing tons of hair along with tons of itchy, irritated scalp and I can definitely thank nizoral in part for it :p

After a weeks use of revivogen shampoo i think it's dried out my forhead more than anything.

I have however been using some apricot scrub thing for my face that an ex girlfriend bought for me so that could have an effect on it.

But yea, so far I really have no complaints about revivogen. Hopefully in 2 months i'll have some kind of good news about it's usage with minoxidil.
