When I made the choice to start taking Finasteride 3 years ago it wasnt a decision that was made lightly by any means.
I thought about it for a long time , read posts on here, spoke to doctors, spoke to my pharmacist who was an older chap and had a healthy balanced view on these types of meds.
Over the course of the 3 years there has been minimal side effects to be honest.
The main benefit I have noticed from taking finasteride is I shed way less. Less hairs on pillow, less hairs on hands etc
I know people say shedding is a natural thing and doesnt mean you are balding neccessarily etc but I'm sure you all would agree that theres some comfort in not seeing as many hairs about the place.
I have had depression chronically since I was young and still do so i have never associated that with a finasteride side effect.
The same with fatigue- I have had a chronic fatigue since my mid 20s which is unexplainable. Everyone I meet just blames it on my depression whereas I am unsure. I still have not associated this with a finasteride side effect though.
However in the last 6 months I HAVE noticed a change in my sex life.
Sex drive and libido has diminshed noticeably, and the erections I have had are softer and also dont last as long as before. I have had 2 sexual experiences since dec 2017 that have been bad, and the most recent one has really affected my self esteem as it was with a girl that I have been getting to know and I really like her.
I blamed some of this on the natural aging process ( I'm 31) so I may not be as virral as before however sometimes I feel perhaps I am just compromising myself as deep down I'm scared of letting go of this drug and now of course scared that the post finasteride syndrome is here and I would have that to deal with also.
My questions are: did anyone notice the shedding process kick in ten fold upon discontinuation of finasteride? Was it unbearable?
Did anyones sexual function return to 'normal" evebtually after discontinuation?
Thanks
