hi Bryan

would you say theres any big difference in using 25mg spironolactone tabs to make topical spironolactone than say 100mg tabs if the amount of total spironolactone was the same? would the additional fillers hinder the mix in any way when using the spironolactone in a dermabase vehicle? reason i am asking is that i have access to the 25mg tabs a lot easier and cheaper

thanks :)

Can't speak for Bryan but you should be ok. The extra filler might affect the cosmetic "feel" but the spironolactone. should still be active, etc., IMHO.

Also, I assume the 25mg tablets are smaller than the 100mg tablets (I've never seen 25mg tablets). So, I also assume the extra filler wouldn't be 4 times as much as the 100mg tablets if I'm making any sense. :hairy:

Personally, I'd avoid unusually large amounts of filler, if possible; however, I also wonder if filler might help to slow-down the metabolization of the spironolactone in the skin. Who knows...maybe it helps provide a bit of "time-release" for the drug!
