Does anyone knows what amount of dht does avodart reduce if you take it 3 times a week, and what amount of dht 2? I was trying to find a answer for this question but I can t find it anywhere, so can anyone help me?
Why would you like to know?
Note that the primary difference in inhibition between the different dosages is due to variations in Type 1 dht inhibition, which doesn't matter for male pattern baldness. Also, this is the level of inhibition, it is not proportional to the actual hair counts
So taking avodart every day reduce dht 2 leveles by almost 99%, so are you saying that taking it every other day would reduce levels of dht 2 by the same amount like taking it every day, but only difference would be in amount of reduction of dht 1?
I do not have evidence of this, but probably the difference is insignificant
Taking 0.5mg of Avodart daily results in 98-99% inhibition of DHT from 5ar2, and about 50% inhibition of DHT from 5ar1.
Taking 0.5mg of Avodart every other day results in about 95% inhibition of DHT from 5ar2, and about 19% inhibition of DHT from 5ar1.
Taking 0.5mg of Avodart three days out of every seven results in about 93-94% inhibition of DHT from 5ar2, and about 16% inhibition of DHT from 5ar1.
p.s.: There is only one "type of DHT". The DHT produced by 5ar1 is identical to the DHT produced by 5ar2. The only significance is that the 5ar1 and 5ar2 enzymes are present in different locations in the body, which is why DHT from 5ar2 is much more destructive to the hair follicles (5ar2 is present in high concentrations within the dermal papillae of the hair follicles, whereas 5ar1 appears to be mostly absent there).
Tnx man this was relly helpfull for me
I see that you are using avodart, if you don t mind me asking what are your experinces with him?
I've had a very positive experience with dutasteride. It has completely stopped my hair loss, and in the space of 18 months I've gone from a NW2.5 with aggressive thinning over the top and crown of my head, to a thick NW1.5. I've had no side-effects other than that I developed a mild case of ED shortly after I started dutasteride, but I then started taking L-Arginine 1000mg daily, and this has completely got rid of the ED. Since the L-Arginine is treating that side-effect, I am now living with no side-effects at all.
Can I ask how bad your hair loss is? Is finasteride working for you? If so, I recommend you stick with the finasteride until it begins to lose its effectiveness (if this ever happens). At that point, you can switch to dutasteride and see how it works for you.
I'm using minoxidil just on my temples. I added minoxidil about six weeks ago, and it has already given me some temple regrowth. I was using just dutasteride alone before then, and dutasteride by itself thickened up my hair very well and improved my temples from a NW2.5 to about a NW1.75. Since adding minoxidil, my temples are now at about NW1.5.So you had some serius succces with avodart, that s great, are you using minoxidil, or just avodart?
Well I am in early stages of male pattern baldness, my one side of hairline is like Norwood 1.5 or 2, and other one is I think Norwood 1, I also have some diffuse thining which is unnoticeable, but I can tell that I have lost some denisty, also some vertex thinning as well
I have been on proscar 6 months, and I think that is working for me, my scalp is felling much healthier, and my hair is maybe but just maybe a litlle thicker but thing is hair is big part of my image, and I would like to be just on save side beacuse I m only 20, and I m probably going by my father steps who is Norwood 6 since his late twenties, so I think switching to dutasteride is smart thing to do.

It seems that your hair loss so far has been very minor. However, since your dad was NW6 by his late 20s, it is likely that your hair loss has the potential to become a lot more aggressive over the next few years. I still think that you should wait a bit before trying dutasteride, though, because from what you wrote, you have very little hair loss so far, and finasteride has been working for you. Maybe just keep a close eye on your hair for the next few years while staying on finasteride, and if you notice your hair getting any worse, then it is time for dutasteride. That is my own opinion on what is the best course of action for you to take.
