Question about shaving my head?

I have medium brown hair. Diffuse thinning from my crown starting to reach down the top of my head towards the front. My question is if I shave it down will you be able to see the thinning better if I shave it down with 0 guard. I know if I buzz cut with a 2 or 3 guard it will be very visible. It's not noticable now, but I'd like to just shave it before it does. I'm also thinking about starting propecia...have the prescription in hand, but just can't get myself to go and fill it. I'd like to shave my head if I start propecia so I don't notice my shed. What do you guys think?

That's the same thing I'm afraid to do. The shortest I go is a 5/8" attachment. Basically, balding will show as a cleaner patch of skin or a "shinier" spot.

I have similar thinning. When I buzz it down to a #0 you basically can't see my thinning at all, or only if you look really hard for it. My hair is blond, but I don't think the color matters that much, since it looks dark when buzzed down. (It's not light blond.)
