I am experiencing some shedding after 3 weeks on minoxidil and .25 finasteride. It's not bad. When I combed my hair for 10 minutes, I got around 15-20 hairs. However, this is a lot for me. My hair thinning really snuck up on me at age 38 to the point where I can't deny it's not happening. I believe a few factors played into this.

1. I'm not super vain. I don't spend lots of time looking at my hair.
2. It's "diffuse" thinning. No pattern
3. Not super obvious. When dry, you can't tell really unless you focus or inspect it.
4. It was extremely slow. I'm 38. My dad had similar hair in my age when he was 23.
5. I NEVER HAD HAIR SHEDDING. I always was shed so little. My exes would shed all over the place, yet you'd never find my hair. Even when it was long.

My question is. Is my thinning due to "miniaturization?" Should I stress out I'm losing hair for the first time or ride it out? It's a bit stressing to me right now.

Daily Stress don't cause hair fall, highest emotional stress that go for a week or few will cause, Telogen Effluvium. But doctors who deal with this things daily, says that it will recovered within 6 months max, rarely upto year or more in case of chronic Telogen Effluvium. BTW, if Telogen Effluvium is your case, all hair in anagen phase will quickly go to Telogen phase and within 1 or 2 months, all those pre matured hairs will fall off, means, those hair are not miniaturized, its normal size hair. 90+% of times DHT will become cause for miniaturization and especially for men nutrient is very least cause for miniaturization.

But your hairlines are normal as you said(post some photos)..! and there is no much research on DUPA! I also came accross posts like "low calorie intake and diffuse thinning[solved]" "nofap and diffuse thinning[solved]!!" There are many causes for diffuse other than DHT i think. Its hard to assume if have got genes from your father, because he may be like his mother and if you got scalp related genes from your father, that gene may be from his father you have got(grandfather/grandmother), genes is multidimentional :(

oops...! your question was on finasteride... well, i'm now planning whether to take finasteride or not(https://www.hairlosstalk.com/intera...ead-21-yo-nw0-finasteride-now-or-wait.119800/).

People say finasteride blocks 70% of DHT, but when you go deep on how it works, its not efficient medicine to block DHT, means, other daily factors play role in DHT with that medicine. Durasteride is much consistant and people say it block 90% DHT, but no doctor recommend it.

If you still taking finasteride, how about changing evironment to reduce stress and maintain good hormone levels?
