Question about genetics

So I'm 21 and started noticing I was (slowly) starting to lose my hair last year, my father's side of the family are mostly bald but didn't end up going bald until their 30's, and also on my mother's side of the family everyone has a good head of hair from people up to 20-70 years old.

I know it's impossible to predict but I was just curious as to what peoples opinions are on when I would start to fully lose my hair without treatment

I'm a NW2 roughly and apparently its normal to lose up to 50-100 hairs every single day as long as those hairs are being replaced.

The reason for not wanting to start treatment is because I personally believe finasteride/rogaine/nizoral or any other treatments are not much more than a placebo this is just my opinion I don't want to start a huge debate about this.

I was talking to a guy who started losing his hair at 19 and still has hair now at 35 years old granted he's like a NW3-NW3.5 with minor thinning he still has his hair.

I'm just wondering what people think of this because in my opinion worry can also cause hairloss, I appreciate that if both sides of your family went bald at a young age then the chances are so will you.

I see a lot of young guys on here who have pretty much perfect hair saying that their mothers and fathers side all have pretty much perfect hair in their 40s for example and I just feel that there's way too many people worrying about their hair when they're probably not even balding.

Just something to think about guys, the more you examine your hair the more paranoid you're going to become.

Edit: this was originally meant to be a question of your guy's opinions on genetics/hair loss as a whole and I just ended up rambling on about my opinion haha sorry about that guys.

And again I don't want to get into a whole debate about whether treatments work or not, for someone who is balding aggressively I agree it's probably the best option, but not for someone who is slightly receding because that's completely natural. I mean just look at Harry Styles for example in 2013 I was reading about how he is apparently going bald and here we are 3 years later and his hair has never looked better.

Yeah I mean I wonder the same thing. I am a norwood 2 have been my whole life and recede at the very front. Mines receding at a slow rate also. My dad has the same exact hairline but back like 2.2-3 inches then it used to be. But hes 62 and still has blonde hair no grey hair so his hair is actually in really good shape for his age. I dont have any one else from his side of the family to base off of. Never seen a pic of his dad or his half brothers so basically hes my only indicator. So I am on finasteride and minoxidil just to be safe, try and slow it down. You have to look at family progression to get the best idea of how it will progress.

Common hairloss is, generally, a very slow process. Then mantaining or prevent further hairloss is a good chance.

My brother and cousins still have their hair but my uncles and dad are bald/balding in their 50s I think even without treatment I should be good for another 10 years or so

Like you say, its very tough to predict. However, I hear a lot of people say that their close relatives started balding in their 30's. But lets be honest, they were balding much sooner than that, it was just noticeable to the naked eye in their 30's. The balding process starts well before we see it with our eyes.

I agree I just don't see why people let it affect them so much anyway's if they'll still have hair years from now regardless as to whether they start treatment or not, if you get caught up on hair loss it will affect you mentally and will make you become depressed and insecure about your hair. I just think that people should enjoy what they have and then when it starts to get a lot worse they can get a hair transplant.
