Question about finasteride

Hi again guys.

So, I am almost 20 years old and I've noticed my hairloss about 2 years ago. It wasn't as much of a receding hairline (there was a BIT of that, but not enough to bother me) but mostly diffuse thinning on the top of my head. That in itself is annoying because I can't style my hair in the way I used to since it would quickly be noticeable under any sort of lighting.

My hair hasn't fallen out yet, or not in big quantities I don't think. It's just been thinning and as such I see a lot of thin hairs on my scalp and my hairline. My hair is still there, yet it's very thin. So, would finasteride be able to rethicken those hairs? Also, I'd like to mention that my I've never noticed big amounts of hair on my pillow or in the shower or wherever. The only thing I've noticed is the aesthetics. Most people don't know I've thinned due to the way my hair is styled, but I would like to have the freedom of styling it however I want and never having to worry about wind or taking a shirt off or what ever that would mess up my carefully coiffed hair lol.

Thanks.

Yes, Propecia will reverse the miniaturization process. It's what it does. It won't work when your hairs are gone. You should notice improvement after 3 - 6 months.

Its a myth that male pattern baldness causes your hair to suddenly fall out in clumps, or due to increased shedding. I think this may be the case for a small amount of men, but most baldness is just caused by your hair folicles shrinking and producing progressively thinner hairs.

My hair loss has progressed steadily over the last 5 years or so, and I have never noticed any sort of increased amount of hair loss, with or without Finasteride.

As mentioned, anywhere your hair is still growing, finasteride will work to thicken it up. The drug generally will not grow hair back in any 'slick' areas that are completely lacking any hair, so it is believed to work better for people experiencing diffuse thinning. If you look at before and after pictures for finasteride, you will see that none of the men have 'slick' balding, only thinning.
