Question about Dr. Lee's 500

Im trying to find some good rogaine alternative, as the original is very expensive, greasy and dries very slowly

I heard many good things about Dr Lee's #500 Minoxidil, as it seems to be less greasy and fast-drying. However, i used other fast-drying minoxidil products without good results. I used rogaine which gave me at least a bit of regrowth, but it was a hassle to apply and to style the hair afterwards.

What's the difference between rogaine and lee's 500? Both contain ppg as far as i know. Why does it dry faster, and is it possible that it's less effective because of that? What are your experiences?

Item 500 has more alcohol and far less PPG.

I've been using it for years

Got some regrowth? Because i've heard that minoxidil without ppg is far less effective. (As Remox DMI, which does not contain ppg, was for me)

It's possible to build a reasonable-sounding scientific argument for using either MORE alcohol and LESS propylene glycol, or LESS alcohol and MORE propylene glycol. That's because there was that one in vitro study showing that the higher the alcohol content, the better the penetration of minoxidil into mouse skin (but how important is it, really, for minoxidil to penetrate into skin, as opposed to the hair follicle?). On the other hand, alcohol evaporates pretty quickly, leaving dried minoxidil behind on the surface. Having more propylene glycol in the vehicle, with less alcohol, would help hold the minoxidil solution in contact with the scalp for a longer period of time.

So which is ultimately the better vehicle, more alcohol and less PG, or less alcohol and more PG? Nobody really knows for sure, because it's never been tested clinically to find out which of those effects cited above wins-out over the other one. Personally, _I_ would definitely want to have at least a reasonable amoung of propylene glycol in any topical minoxidil product that I use...

I would also like to add that I rotate it with rogain foam.

I uses about twice the dose, ONCE a day. I rotate with no rhyme or reason. Just whatever bottle I grab.

Doctor Lee 500 is good, I got 3 months of supply. But I don't plan to buy again from him since the kirkland dry so fast for me (30 min or less) and cost a lot less ( 3 month of kirkland= the price of 1 month of lee 500).
